Re: Cumberspotting - most recent photos

Just how brilliant is that?!
The Japanese really know how to do things.
We need to learn from them!
Benedict was fabulous and he made me cry, talking about his Star Trek family,
It was so lovely to see them altogether in London.
Really pleased that Benedict said he hoped to be working with JJ again soon.

Re: Cumberspotting - most recent photos

The entrance alone is such a wow.
And obviously the camera and the directors love him. They make him look even better than he does anyway. Great shots of him
Love the comments on the wall. Please talk longer XD and the experiment he did :-) Such a fun interview.

So cute how he asks the lady for her name because he does not like her being a number.
This is so kind and why I love him so much.

By the way, caution when switching to full screen. My heart missed a few beats

Re: Cumberspotting - most recent photos

I really like the part where he is trying to explain a bit of English vocabulary ("knocked for six") to his interpreter and then goes on to tell her that "we just won the first of the test series against Australia" (cricket). Love that bit, don't know why, but I do!

And, yes, Cumberbatch San sounds quite great

It also always makes me happy when he refers to Christopher Tietjens as having been such an inspiring character to play.

Re: Cumberspotting - most recent photos

I loved the Tietjens reference. They didn't mention Sherlock if I'm not mistaken but Tietjens had to go in.  He even repeated his name to the interpreter.

Yes and he has said before Christopher is his favourite character.

Re: Cumberspotting - most recent photos

I know. I had a very soft spot for the character even before I saw Benedict playing him. And he portrays him so well.
I think it's something Bill Condon said about Benedict - that he tries to understand the people he plays, not to criticise them. He has such a wonderful approach to the characters, fictional and real life.

That's not just English, that's Brit. I'm a native speaker, and he'd have to explain both of those things to me, since I have no idea what either of them are. In fact, what a good idea. I'd like to sit at his feet and see/hear him explain any damned thing to me, lololol.

Well, that implies that Brit English is the "real" English, lol. We prefer to say British English to distinguish it from American English. There are others, of course, including Australian English, which is like a dialect unto itself.

I know what Cricket is, at least I think I do, but when I see it being played on TV or in the movies,  I can't tell it from our lawn game, croquet, lol. Cricket might be played all over the world, but not here.

Re: Cumberspotting - most recent photos

@ ancientsgate: yes, I know it is British English, it's the English I speak  (and even there we would have to consider so many different accents, since there clearly isn't just one kind of British English spoken by everyone in the UK, but that would go way too far for what I wanted to say)

But maybe you could put forward the idea of a language course in British English to Benedict's management *already imagining the CD or, better still, on telly*. I bet a lot of people would suddenly feel the urge to learn British English

Thanks, besleybean: I meant "English English as opposed to U.S. English", without wanting to imply any superiorty of one over the other.
Of course "British English" would have been the more politically correct term to use, but since I was in a hurry right before getting to work and just typing away quickly, this is how it came out

Re: Cumberspotting - most recent photos

Seriously, just shoot me.  I'm ded.  d-e-d.  ;P
Every time us fans go on about how charming and nice and sweet and humorous and smart our Ben is, then he goes and does it again even on just a short little car show interview, or arriving at a dang -airport-.
Love how he banters with/appreciates the people around him, jokes, his little 'experiment', etc…  was even more delighted at the number of great things http://www.benedictcumberbatch.co.uk put up… they're so good at getting stuff on recent events... lots of awesome pics there!!  Apparently they had an awesome screening, too, during which they gave him a Star Trek birthday cake.  And didn't know even his friend Adam uploaded a video (pretty sure was being filmed by the lady in red following him)… similar to the earlier vid, but nicer quality to hear what he says, and really get a sense of the crowd..  (eesh!  o.o)

(if you go to the rest of his videos posted, there's even one about being 'bored on the plane!' with 'BC hand dancing', for those who like that….  ;DD)
So freaking cute…..

(although I gotta say, getting a better view from so many pics of him waving, I'm so curious again about that bracelet we've seen him wear in various photo ops now…)

Some of them were shouting out to him in English.

So presumably they understood when, after his little 'testing of the legion' with the up and down hand gestures, they heard him say 'all right kids, now listen....  we're going to take this to the next level when you all type 'Cumberbatch for President' starting.......  now! *points*'     (I still love how he played around with that in the conference!!)

You can tell by the fact that only a minority of the crowd at the airport laughs when he tells a funny (I recall the moment when he said even his parents don't come to the airport when he comes home anymore) that most of them don't speak English well enough to follow him. They were there to gawk, and I 100% don't blame them!  Mmm, gawking is not highly overrated, lol.

Here's an interesting pic from an article in today's New York Times about reality-based movies (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/18/business/media/filmmakers-embrace-reality-on-the-high-seas-and-beyond.html?pagewanted=2&ref=todayspaper&pagewanted=all):

Not sure what is the best thread to post a "Benedict at the hairdresser" pic, so I posted it there ->
