I read that Nick Hurran directed the 50th anniversary episode of Dr Who. I'm no Whovian but that doesn't sound so bad. And Sherlockology lists more of his work.

knew that name sounded familiar!
He directed some of the Doctor Who episodes and those looked quite good, so I'm okay with that.
