No idea why, but I haven't been reading any S/J. At this point, I feel as though I've seen all the eps too many times, no one is writing anything new or catchy in fan fic, and I'm just not in that headspace right now. But I still come here and read this thread! I'm not dead, after all, lol. And I've never regretted starting this thread-- when I did, I honestly didn't know if anyone cared about Johnlock but me and a couple others, but now look! Wow.

Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

Well, I'm at that point again...got three different fanfics I want to read, but I don't know which one to start with!  "The Quiet Man" (which I have asked about before, and started reading a while ago but got distracted with something and never finished it), "The Blog of Eugenia Watson" or the "Long Ago and Far Away" series...thoughts?

Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

I'd go for "The quiet man". I somehow don't like SH fics where they live with children or teenagers. On the other hand MadLori's an excellent writer so if you like the subject you may try this one. As for the "Long ago" series - I started it and quite liked it but it never seems to get completed. Or is it now?

Yep, seconded The Quiet Man. Eugenia Watson's blog is lovely, but abandoned. She did tie it off where it ends but it's not entirely satisfying. Worth reading, but The Quiet Man first, imo.

Long Ago and Far Away isn't really my scene. I don't mind AUs but I dislike Victorian era stuff. I realise that's the canonical timeline but it's less accessible to me or something.

Long Ago isn't Victorian, it's set in the 1930s and 40s before and during WWII. But it's updated infrequently, maybe given up altogether.

You guys who read WIPs are made of sterner stuff than I am. I am so sick of orphaned stories! And just as bad are stories that are updated every blue moon.

The Blog of Eugenia Watson is technically orphaned, but she did bring it to some kind of conclusion, as I remember. Left me wanting more, but not because there were plot points that weren't resolved. At least, I don't think so. Read that one months ago. I am a madlori fan, but she does love to orphan stuff.... I would never read anything by her that was a WIP. She's writing a sequel to Performance in a Leading Role now. I think it's in beta, but I'm not totally sure. Her goal was to have it come out coinciding with the new season being shown in the UK (she's an American, but that's what she said), sooner if she could. I will believe it when I see it, but she swears it's almost totally done already, so... I do have hope we'll see the Performance boys again.

Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

I only read some chapters of Long Ago because I saw that it seemd orphaned. I liked the historical setting but don't want to wait that long for sequels. It's a shame. Ivyblossom started a new one as well but there were no updates since January I guess.

Would like to read Madlori again. Let's hope for the best.

Oh I hope we do get to see the PIAL Sherlock and John again!  I love their story...I'm thinking of reading it again actually, after I read some others.

Anyway, thanks for the responses everyone! I actually ended up reading a chapter of The Blog of Eugenia Watson just to see what it was like, and then somehow I ended up reading the second chapter and then...well, you get the idea . I just finished it, I actually really enjoyed it, and while I would love to see more (I quite enjoyed the characters and the family dynamic), I would be ok if Mad_Lori ended up writing not writing in that universe again. It wasn't really that open-ended, I didn't think so anyway.
Well, I'm off to read The Quiet Man now! Woot!

I'm not sure where, I found it in the Benedict Cumberbatch/Sherlock picture thread a while ago, where it's actually from...I don't know.

Looks like it might be from that disastrous interview on the Late Show with Letterman...at a guess.

Nope. For Letterman he wore that fancy three-piece black suit, bright white shirt and black tie. Like a well-heeled, influential funeral director.

Maybe. Didn't see that show. Certainly during the time he was out promoting STID. Recent.

It actually (for Letterman, who can be a real curmudgeon) was pretty polite and not too bad. He didn't know who Ben was, of course, since most Americans pre-Star Trek did not. He at least mentioned Sherlock (although unfortunately showing those stupid otter pictures), complimented Ben on his snazzy appearance, and after they watched a clip of the movie, Letterman also complimented him on his acting and presence in STID, telling Ben. "Wow! Oh, man! No offence to the rest of the cast, but it really didn't need much more than you!", which I thought was nice.

So some good, some bad. I've seen worse on Letterman, believe me. If you want to see it, the interview is up on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OeeSaI4bX8

Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

Okay, I haven't read any Johnlock fics yet and I want to but don't know what's out there. I'd like to read something post-TRF, where they are reunited and...their feelings for each other get the better of them, if you know what I mean

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dean - "I'm not happy about it. But I got to move on. So I'm gonna keep doing what we do...while I still can. And I'd like you to be there with me."

Sam - "I'm your brother, Dean, if you ever need to talk about anything with anybody, you got someone right here next to you."

You can go back to the beginning of this thread and start reading the classics. *smile* Most of the fan fics that are recced don't really take TRF into account. Either they're pre-TRF, or TRF just never happened. If you go to AO3 (archive of our own), and use their search engine, you can probably find some post-Reichenbach works. Or maybe someone here can speak up with recs.

ancientsgate is right, most of the Johnlock fanfics are either pre-TRF or don't take TRF into account at all (AU or something). However, there are a few post-TRF Johnlock fanfics I really like that come to mind;

Given In Evidence by verityburns

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7829862/1/Given-In-Evidence

Be Here Now by Todesfuge

http://archiveofourown.org/works/468714/chapters/810005?view_adult=true

Or if you're in the mood for something a little shorter, there's this;

Come to the Edge by AGirloftheSouth

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7795374/1/Come-to-the-Edge

There are some other FABULOUS fanfics out there that aren't post-TRF, if you want I could recommend a few if you'd like to try some out (especially if you'd like to try reading some AU), or try looking on the first page of the Johnlock Masterlist topic...lots of goodies there
