Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

SilverMoon, I know lots of people don't like to read stuff that's "in progress," but I'm actively working on two: humorous: http://archiveofourown.org/works/837487/chapters/1595532
and an AU: http://archiveofourown.org/works/831759/chapters/1582072

(I try to update at least every other day at the latest.)

Thank-you!  All I have so far though is when it'll take place (at least at the start), I haven't decided yet if it'll be an AU or not...there's just so many ideas and possibilities, can't decide which way to go ...I'll have to reflect a little longer on it I suppose.

I'm currently in the middle of reading a Johnlock trilogy by Phyona called "The First and Last Trilogy", http://archiveofourown.org/series/16650
I'm really enjoying it so far! The authors sense of humour is awesome and hilarious!

"A bit different" is always apprechiated. I'll take a look at it soon, thanks for recommending!

I've just started with the first part, Sherlock's POV, and it is downright amazing. Wonderful language, very emotional, yet absolutely in character. Thank you for recommending it!

Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

I've just finished reading the Sherlock fanfic called "Fill Our Mouths With Cinnamon Now" http://archiveofourown.org/works/484035/chapters/842620
I avoided reading that one for a while, not out of any distaste for what the summary said I just had a hard time imagining Sherlock as a father (for those who haven't read it, that isn't a spoiler, it says so plainly in the one line summary before the first chapter ) but recently I decided to give it a go...and was quite surprised, I enjoyed it a lot. So cute, moving and very well written

I have a question, another Sherlock fanfiction I've been putting aside is this; http://archiveofourown.org/works/280762/chapters/446284
It's called "The Prize" a post-apocalyptic AU, it's long...which is my preference  so I have saved it , maybe for reading later, but I'm not sure...again like with FOMWCN, because I have a hard time picturing a Sherlock in a post-apocalyptic setting. I'll probably read it eventually anyway, but I am wondering for those who have read it if they thought it was any good?  No spoilers please, vague generalizations are ok though, thanks!

That is one of my favourites actually. It's well written and unusual. But read it only if you can deal with a terrifying postapocalyptic setting and a rather depressing and disillusioning relationship situation.

Hm...ok, thanks!  Well maybe I will read it eventually. It does sound rather dark, and depressing given the premise...but I can deal with that, so long as it's not constantly those things, I like at least seeing some (however brief) happiness or levity even in a dark and depressing story. Even if this story doesn't have that...I'll probably read it anyway just to see what it's like.

There are some happier moments. One scene where John cooks for Sherlock is wonderful. But the relationship is based on dependency and misunderstandings. The ending is at least optimistic. On the other hand, I remember the whole plot months after reading it - that's how good it was.

Yes it really was rather good. I highly recommend giving it a go; as long as you're not put off by the underlying dark themes. Sherlock and Mycroft are both very much in character and their relationship is entirely canonical. John, iirc, is also in character but I don't remember as much about his story now (months later) as I do Sherlocks so I am guessing it is a little Sherlock-centric. I might go back and re-read it actually - thanks for the reminder!

Oh and that's a recommendation if ever I've given it - I rarely re-read fics ;-)

Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

There's this WIP Sherlock fanfiction I'm reading, a baseball AU called "The Bang and the Clatter". I'm not a sports fan, but I enjoyed the AU Sherlock "Tennis" series and the author of that recommended this one...I avoided it at first because it's a WIP, but I gave in and started reading it a few days ago...I am enjoying this story immensely, and the author is really good at giving regular updates, once or twice a week.

She's also writing 'Nature and Nurture' which is a kid!lock fic and quite adorable. The Bang and the Clatter is a great fic and very in character. As you say she's very reliabld on updates and active on Twitter & Tumblr too.

I love her summary: Sherlock Holmes is a pitcher and John Watson is a catcher. No, no, no, it's a baseball AU.

bwahahahahaha  *ahem*

And from the chapter one explanation about baseball: The baseball fic isn’t really about baseball, and in fact they play very little of it. Like all of my fic, it has a flimsy excuse for a plot and is really just about emotional exploration.

I don't know if anyone cares about this thread or about Johnlock fic, since only a couple of people have left comments, but I'll continue to put up my recs just because I can, I guess. Meanwhile, if any of you have Johnlock stories you've enjoyed that you can rec, I for one would love to hear about it.

This one took me two days to read. I found it highly repetitive, but interesting. It went on and on and on and on, but somehow I stuck with it and plugged away and was glad I did. Written in John first person, it included detailed accounts of a lot of his dreams, for some reason; I guess the author must be fascinated by dreams-- she certainly writes colorful ones. This poor John went *three years* thinking Sherlock was dead. Three long years... angsty to the max this was. But both her John and her Sherlock were lovely-- true to the BBC canon, except with the added bonus of their love for one another.

The Quiet Man by ivyblossom, she has rated this explicit, but I thought it was more R rated.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/322978/chapters/520106

Long. Did I say this one was long? Yup. 58 chapters, nearly 160,000 words. Long.

Don't know if it was already mentioned here, but The Progress of Sherlock Holmes by ivyblossom is great as well.
(too bad the link do not contain the names of the stories, the search did not pick it up, sorry)

Love it, Sherlock POV, you feel as though you are in his head, lovely narrated. *sigh*

And seeing how The Quiet Man was already posted at the beginning of this thread I realize that I am rehhheally behind on reading.

They're both classics and are also to be found on the masterlist in Wholocked's thread. I loved them both very much. Ivyblossom's an excellent writer.
AG: Please go on with your recs. I always look at them even if they're not my cup of tea.
