That does sound good, I've been looking for Benedict films to watch that I haven't seen. I'll try and find that and give it a go! Thanks

It's really worth watching, it's heartfelt but never sentimental. One of his best performances I'd say and that is saying something.

It was on Youtube. I'm not a fan of watching movies for free but in this case I did and I later bought the DVD.

Just wanted to mention that it's also a bit difficult to understand without subtitles - but should be no problem for you.

Only problem with that movie was that Ben was overqualified for the role, lololol-- much too pretty, and he simply acted rings around the rest of the cast. AG, you have quite a way of putting things. I didn't feel it that strong but of course his part is the most difficult and most rewarding. The director knew why she gave it to him, I suppose. I don't think he was overqualified. And I read he wanted to shave his hair to make it more realistic but he couldn't because he had to do Sherlock.

I watched it on amazon.com's instant movie service thingie, since NetFlix didn't have it.

I thought it was like one of those old movie of the week things they used to do on American TV-- an obvious tear jerker with not much story behind it. But Ben, as I said a moment ago, shines in the role, outshining everyone and everything else in it, as a matter of fact. I watched it just to see him, and it was worth the 4 bucks or whatever I paid, to see His Fineness when he was quite a bit younger.

Another good one is the one in which he played the scientist Stephen Hawking-- it's called (wait for it), Hawking. He was terrific in that, and the role was difficult enough that his wonderful talent could really shine in it. I think I watched in on you tube, where someone put it up in parts. Yes, it was difficult to understand without subtitles. And I'm a native English speaker! I'd forgotten about that, but you're right. I got probably about half the dialogue.

And now that I think about it, the fact that I could only understand half of what they were saying might have been the reason why I was so unimpressed with the story. Maybe I missed all kinds of verbal revelations that might have elevated it out of movie of the week status for me.
