Yes, it was. John is depressed and wants to commit suicide. Mycroft rescues him. If you don't like "Johncroft" you can skip this one.

Noooo....I would not like this! Johncroft? Not my area

Not your division, eh?
I am semi-intrigued, but not enought to actually spend time reading it. I, generally speaking, can swallow almost any damned thing, slash-wise, if it's well-written and not completely ugly-dark-evil. But there's too much nice Johnlock out there to bother spending time with Johncroft. Or Johnstrade, either.

I read one that was Johnstrade until Sherlock returned and then turned into this weird threesome a-sexual relationship. It actually, surprisingly, worked well. Was well written though, makes a HUGE difference.

On another note - masterlist is updated again

I read that, too, or one that sounds like that. Yes, it was well-written. Not my cuppa necessarily, but I read it.
I remember a Johnlock story where the guys hadn't gotten together yet "that way", and John went and married his Mary. They had a child, I believe. Later they were divorced, Johnlock started, and the four of them (Johnlock, the kid and Mary) lived under the same roof. The three adults co-parented the kid, while only Johnlock had an intimate relationship and Mary learned to love and value Sherlock as a friend. Doesn't that sound far-fetched? Well, you know, the way the author wrote it, it worked. So yeah, in the hands of a skilled author, there's a lot of stuff I'll swallow, as long as, as I said earlier, it's not dark-ugly-evil.

Don't bother, AG. It's not really sexy (it stops before anything happens) and IMO not convincing. And as you said, there's so much good stuff out there.

Ah yes I've read all three in that series. Intense, definitely, but very very good.
Here's a new one for you all
Breathe With The Soul
Sherlock and John hunt a serial killer who uses The Nine Circles of Hell as his modus operandi.
This is a alternate universe fusion casefic based on the movie Se7en and Dante Alighieri's Inferno. Any mistakes or misrepresentations regarding these two works are on purpose (probably) and entirely mine.
Please read the warnings - the descriptions of the bodies/crime scenes are quite graphic
I liked this very much. Apart from for the case it is 100% Sherlock universe. And the Johnlock story is really good. Lots of angst, I couldn't stop reading.

Not that my opinion matters, but I'll second Breathe With the Soul. I just finished that one a few days ago, it's really excellent.

Why shouldn't it matter? Everyone's opinion matters.

Well, I liked "Once More, With Feeling" by redcarrigan.
Teen and up, kissing, Romance, Fluff, Humour - I'd underline the Fluff ;-)
Author's summary: To put off his meddlesome, matchmaking mother, John convinces Sherlock to play the role of his significant other.
Unparalleled awkwardness ensues.
Sherlock at John's parents' home. He turns out to be the perfect son-in-law. Only John doesn't see...
A nice little counterpart to 12 Days of Christmas where Sherlock takes John home, pretending he is his boyfriend.
Sweet. Likeable. A matter of taste

I've read one, it was quite well done...now I don't know which one to read next! There's so many and I don't know how to choose...suggestions?

Well, we have a masterlist here on the board. And if you tell us what kind of fics you enjoy to read, it might be easier to make a suggestion

My faves are the epic-length AUs "Performance in a Leading Role" by madlori, and "Two Two One Bravo" by abundantly queer (that second one earns every single one of its "adult" ratings, so beware, but I found it exciting, believable, hot as hell, and I just loved her John in particular). Both stories are on AO3, where madlori is mad_lori, just FYI.

I took a look at it, many of them do pique my interest! But...'tis just so hard to choose , so far I've read "Two Two One Bravo Baker", "Come To The Edge" and "Soldiering Through Friendly Fire". I enjoyed all of those!...I tend to like stories and books with strong character relationships, lots of emotions, complicated ones, plot is important to of course but when reading I'm more drawn to the characters and their interactions with each other. There is an aspect of John and Sherlocks relationship that always seems to be a bit...ambiguous, which is why I think it's easy (for some, including me) to see how they could be drawn together as couple, but they could also be just really really close friends. I am a bit of a hopeless romantic though...I do tend to like the emotionally squishy stuff , still if the story is good and interesting and so are the characters, I'll read pretty much anything
