Re: Star Trek

I see what you mean and you explain it quite well, Mary. It had a different quality compared to the other interviews. And also to jokes e.g. made by the Sherlock team (at least where Simon is concerned).

Re: Star Trek

Well, then it's probably just the question if it's your kind of humour or not.

Re: Star Trek

Were people misunderstanding?
For the most part Alice and Simon were just being funny.
Or did people think they were being too personal?
Certainly what Alice said is common knowledge.
It was Simon's commnents that caused a bit of discussion on Twitter.
But for at least part of it, he was being funny and the other part.  Dunno?  Was he teasing?

Re: Star Trek

I haven't been on twitter for a while so I don't know about the discussions, but I can imagine if you don't share the humour or you don't have any background it's easily misunderstood.

Re: Star Trek

Don't really know why we need a name at all, but Benedict seems to favour Cumberbuddies.

Re: Star Trek

I hereby propose a name for male fans of Benedict: Cumberbatch Sausages

That should upset the applecart enough for just now.

Re: Star Trek

My sister and I were writing notes back in forth during class today, and I put a "May 18th <3" and she was like, "What's on May 18th?". Silly girl. It's when I will be sitting in a theatre, gushing at the most amazing man ever.

That is awesome.  But... with all the commentary above about the names, and what Ben has said about, I thought he was quoted as having preferred Cumberbabes?  But being gender-neutral, I can see why he'd suggest the other, equally neat one.

We solve crimes, I blog about it, and he forgets his pants.  I wouldn't hold out too much hope!

I'm working my way up the greasy pole.  It's… very greasy.  And…  pole-shaped.

Re: Star Trek

It gets all so technical, doesn't it?!
He prefers babes to bitches, but likes buddies best of all.
He jokingly said The Collective on the Graham Norton show, but that is my personal fave.
Tho I still don't see why we need a name at all.

Neither do I. But it seems the fans started this and the media loved and used it. I suppose Benedict had no choice in this.

He clearly hasn't. It's just because b'tch is closer to batch than anything else.

Well, of course he hasn't. But it seems a contradition that the people who call themselves so as to indicate that they are great admirers of Benedict,  would insist on using this denomination even if it clearly embarasses and displeases their idol.

To bring the thread quite unexpectedly back to it's main topic:

Just booked the tickets for next Saturday! Which will be the second time I'll watch the movie because we also have tickets for the 8th!
