Could it be that no-one has recommended this one yet?
It's called "The Curious Case of the Howl in the Night" by Sideris, who does a wonderful Sherlock IMO. It's short and rated Explicit for good reasons.
Sherlock is intrigued by how it could be that John makes him ... well, howl.

Not sure, but I don't think we've had this one here yet. I stumbled across this author by accident when day and totally fell in love with her beautifully crafted style. This story is an 'almost' stand alone - but is really part of two parallel series she has going on Ao3. She's really quite incredible and I keep coming back and re-reading her stories over and over.
All you need to know about this piece to enjoy it is that it takes place after Sherlock's return from The Fall, the setting is Bart's - in particular, an office high up off of the Rare Books Room, Sherlock and John are already lovers, and the story is about how John coped with his grief at Sherlock's 'death' by 'rewriting' their history to suit him. Here he reads his story outloud to Sherlock until the revision story begins to blend with reality. So hyper-romantic and seductive, it melts my heart.

This sounds inventive. I've sent it to my kindle to give it a try. Are the other parts of her series good as well?

I think they are! Her "Experiments" series is more grounded in the 'reality' of the series. Her "Other Experiments" is more AU with a SF twist; however, both stories kind of 'nest' together and a chapter in one is later read as a chapter of the other. At first I was confused by this, then I thought it was quite amazing. "Other Experiments" is a WIP (she just added a new chapter) and it's very sensual (not necessarily always explicit, but sensual). There's just something about her poetic style that really appeals to me - not always easy, but quite beautiful. I keep meaning to send her appreciative comments since I come back to her stories so often.

Sounds very tempting, KP. I've got so much on my Kindle but …

Ohhhhh...I really like this one, Crazy! You did a great job of blending the action and the romance. It's all so heightened in tone and setting. I love it! Have to go read your other one now!

Tried this one spontaneously with my first coffee - and fully agree with KP. Blending action and romance: Very well done! Like it very much!

So did I. The atmosphere is very intense.

I think it's your best so far!

I don't think we had this here already:
Behavioural Modification by bendingsignpost
Author's summary: "Whatever it took, he was going to make this work."
Explicit, Asexual!Sherlock, extreme misunderstandings, First Time, past emotional abuse (references to), Unreliable Narrator
5 Chapters
I have to admit I had some troubles following the complex plot, but in the end, patience got rewarded. (As in the story itself ).
Not a must but still a really good read, esp. for a great Sherlock POV

Yes, I second that, Harriet! Read that this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised.

I'm posting this in here although it's not Johnlock but has adult content. It's a prequel to Solo Jones' "The Sign of Four" which has been recommended elsewhere and tells what happened to Sherlock and Irene after TRF until his re-appearance in London. I'm usually not a fan of Sherlock/Irene stories but I liked this here very much. Well-written, great characters. Warnings: drug use, sexual content.

I'm almost afraid to post this. For those of you who ship Johnlock and sci-fi stuff:

Masterlist is updated. Sorry, was a few months behind!
On another note - there's a new A Study in Doubles chapter up!!! YAY
Edit: I'm going to go back and read some of the recs I've missed. I gotta be honest, I tend to clost a First Person POV fic as soon as I realise it's in first person. Dunno why but I find 'em really hard to read, but I'm gonna give it a go cause crazybbcamerican wrote fics!!!

I'm in the middle of this one and it is very ... intense, if not to say scary. I love it, but you should really read the warnings!

Ah yes I've read all three in that series. Intense, definitely, but very very good.
Here's a new one for you all
Breathe With The Soul
Sherlock and John hunt a serial killer who uses The Nine Circles of Hell as his modus operandi.
This is a alternate universe fusion casefic based on the movie Se7en and Dante Alighieri's Inferno. Any mistakes or misrepresentations regarding these two works are on purpose (probably) and entirely mine.
Please read the warnings - the descriptions of the bodies/crime scenes are quite graphic

John Watson's Twelve Days of Christmas by earlgreytea68

Not exactly in season, and with a beginning that made me wonder for months whether I would give it a try, I came to really enjoy it.
Very emotional, rather hot at parts, kind of fluff, a few lengths, nice frame (The 12 Days-Song), slightly AU as it tells BBC canon stories entirely differently,
yet lots of BBC canon quotes and reference. A treat. Did I mention hot?
4 of 5.
