Hello from Nothern Germany!

Hi folks!

I am new at this forum and therefore I like to introduce myself.
My name is Andrea, I am 30-something and I come from Germany, more precisely from the beautiful city Hamburg.

I am a newbie to the Sherlock-Fandom, because I know the series just for a few month now.  Somehow I have managed to missed it when it was broadcasted on German television. When I watched The Hobbit last year in cinema, I was very impressed by Martin Freemans acting as Bilbo. Because of that, I borrowed the Sherlock-DVDs form a colleague, watched all 6 episodes on one weekend - and since then I am totaly addicted .

Now I am scanning the internet everyday for new informations on series 3 - I don't mind spoilers, but I will of course not post any, were not appropriate - do we have a spoiler thread somewhwere? I would like to discuss and speculate about the new episodes. I am really looking forward for series 3 and hope, the DVDs will be released soon after they'll be broadcasted on BBC - I definitely don't want to wait until the series will be aired in Germany (which would probably be half a year later than in GB).

I am also very keen on Sherlock-FanFiction and develope some own ideas at the moment. I don't mind Johnlock-storys but I definitely don't want to see them on the show - that wouldn't fit, in my opinion.

I am very happy, that I found this forum and I am looking forward, to "meet" other Sherlock-Fans all over the world and discuss with you.

A positiv side-effect of my Sherlock-addiction is, that I can improve my English. It's not too bad I think, but a little bit rusty since I rarely need the English language on my job or everyday life. You may tell me, when I got some spelling or grammar terribly wrong.

I don't know whether there already is a thread, in which we can post the order of our favorite episodes, but here is mine:
1. The Reichenbach Fall (I think, I watched these episode approxemtly 6 times now - the showdown on the roof - OMG! - I nearly cried at the graveyard-scene)
2. The Hounds of Baskerville (I really enjoyed these episode, especially the funny sequences between John and Sherlock and the spooky atmosphere of the episode)
3. The Great Game/A Study in Pink (I can not decide, which episode I like more, the showdown in TGG was very exiting, but I also liked the get-to-know feeling of ASP)
4. A Scandal in Belgravia (I know the episode is very popular, but somehow I don't get used to the whole Irene Adler-story, but I liked the scenes between Mycroft an Sherlock)
5. The Blind Banker (the weakest episode in my opinion, but I liked Sarah and the scences between her and John)

Sorry for the long indroduction, sometimes I get carried away with my thoughts (could happen again). I hope, you don't mind.

Greetings from Nothern Germany,
Annie

Re: Hello from Nothern Germany!

Oh, another German member. Willkommen, Annie, what a nice and detailed introduction. You'll find discussions about series 3 but please be aware that some members don't want to read spoilers.  You can discuss them by PM anytime. We have some good threads on fanfic as well - Johnlock and non-Johnlock.

Re: Hello from Nothern Germany!

Hello and welcome here! Some of us (incl.me) have siblings in Hamburg.
And again it's very interesting how quickly one can get addicted to Sherlock.
I fully agree with your opinion regarding Johnlock. Fanfic is fine, but please not in the real show.

If you use the search function you will find a LOT threads which might be of special interest for you.
Have fun here and enjoy!

(Oh, and your English is better than most Americans', so don't worry...)

Re: Hello from Nothern Germany!

A warm welcome from me too!

Another fellow german, how nice. You may have noticed that we're somehow in majority here.
I've been to Hamburg once during my holiday - it's a really beautiful, however a kinda big town. (You easily get lost there, happened to me, don't want to talk about it )
I fully agree with your point of view about Johnlock - as fantasy it's quite nice, as canon it doesn't work for me either. Probably because I prefer friendship to romantic relationships.

I like a detailed introduction such as yours.
Make yourself at home. We've got lots of interesting threads around here, so just have a look. It's definitely the right place for overexcited Sherlock fans.
Have a nice time here and enjoy yourself!

Greetings,
Mary

@Davina: Oh no, Moin Moin is the perfect and most acceptable greeting in Hamburg at any time of day or night :-))

@all others: Thank you very much for all welcomings.

Re: Hello from Nothern Germany!

(Due to frequent vacations in northern Germany )
I liked the Störtebecker story when I was a kid. Maybe Sherlock did as well?

Re: Hello from Nothern Germany!

I used to have a pretty white and blue mug with Moin Moin on  it but it got broken.

I've only visited Hamburg once but I liked it.

Re: Hello from Nothern Germany!

Moin moin, and welcome to the forum. I lived in Bargteheide for a few years and been to Hamburg quite frequently back then. I even went to the Außenalster by dragon boat for a while.

Enjoy your time here!

Re: Hello from Nothern Germany!

My goodness, there are getting to be a lot of Germans here!  o.o   Wonder how that is....   Heh, and unfortunately don't speak any of it, despite maternal family branch being from that country (and always sounded nice to visit), so... Welcome!

Re: Hello from Nothern Germany!

I didn't suspect that there are so many people from Germany, my neighbourhood country. Welcome and cheers from Poland.
