Re: Star Trek

Susi! What are you doing? I have a thing for English men trying to speak German anyway, and this was ... I'm done.
Although he sounds a bit like a computer voice reading unknown words.

He’s got a dog. We go to the pub on weekends. I’ve met his mum and dad …

… and his friends and all his family and I’ve no idea why I’m telling you this.

Re: Star Trek

I think he could do better but he wasn't prepared for that. Maybe they should give him a nice poem next time. And I have the same thing for English men doing this … and then the voice …

"To fake the death of one sibling may be regarded as a misfortune; to fake the death of both looks like carelessness." Oscar Wilde about Mycroft Holmes

"It is what it is says love." (Erich Fried)

“Enjoy the journey of life and not just the endgame. I’m also a great believer in treating others as you would like to be treated.” (Benedict Cumberbatch)

Re: Star Trek

Oh dear, it's hilarious! I know enough German to appreciate his effort. In any case, the whole video is such a fun

Re: Star Trek

How he pronounces "Zivilisation"  Benedict, my dear...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Falling is just like flying, except there’s a more permanent destination."
"Sherlock Holmes is a great man, and I think one day—if we’re very very lucky—he might even be a good one."
"Would you like to-"
"-have dinner?"
"-solve crimes?"
"Oh"
An Englishman pronouncing German like French … cute.
Re: Star Trek
I loved this! It was so funny throughout. Clearly Benedict never studied German at school but he has a nice French accent!  Did you notice the hint of his lisp iwhen he says hello to Spoko at the start? Oh and nice tie!  Zoe was really good throughout wasn't she.
I've made up my mind, apologize for laughing at his mistakes and volunteer for giving him some lots of german lessons
Where would we be if we didn't have you, Harriet: The embodiment of true humility and selflessness!
Re: Star Trek
You're doing it only in order to promote German as a foreign language, don't you?
Nothing serious.
Btw, what does "Don't split your infinitives mean"?
Re: Star Trek
For example, it should be: to go.  That is the infinitive of the verb,
Star Trek is famous for its: to boldy go, therefore splitting the infinitive.
Was at a meal with friends last night and the topic of the new Star Trek movie came up. I was astonished that the guy I was talking to, who is really looking forward to the film, had no idea that Benedict was in it! (He's a massive Sherlock fan too).
How is that even possible?!
Trapped in a mine shaft for the last year?  Cloistered monk?  Coma?
Re: Star Trek
I was astonished! He raved about being excited about the new film and when I told him that, of course, Benedict Cumberbatch is the 'baddie'' he  got all over-excited and started raving about Sherlock and how brilliant it and he is. He also had no idea what was happening about another Sherlock series so was really pleased to hear that they are filming now. Then he asked me how comes I know so much about it all...
