Good point. He would have nightmares over and over again.

They have filmed sections of the fall because they spent a couple of days at St Barts and Benedict had his stunt double on set etc, but I don't think any of those scenes will be crucial in giving us any clues as to how he did it. They'll just be shots from different angles for when Sherlock is explaining how he did it and maybe some of the shots they took before weren't good enough or something.

Exactly, that´s the most likeable solution of all that - things like this happen, you think before, you have everything, but afterwards you see it´s not like this. So you need another go (luckily nobody has changed so much in the years...).
And to the rest: If that "odd" person really was a whole day on set, I doubt it´s only a fake (what purpose ever). But for 2 or 3 hours - why not having fun with the fans while doing other "real" preparations and shots ? The shaped ape also needed some hours last time. And I can imagine that some actors also would volunteer for that purpose .

Re: The game is on again (OFFICIAL NEWS ONLY PLEASE)

No but if they are filming anyway they simply have to bring this person to the set-its really very far from impossible that they'd be a fan-and make sure that the newspapers and fans get a good sight of them...and then toss out a few press releases mentioning how important it is that no one comes to filming in London or spreads spoilers so that we all know that something highly exciting will be happening.., and there you go :-). No extra cash for filming extra scenes. Extra massive publicity.

Seriously, I'm bemused anyway by the fans being present. With Dr Who-which has a massive, well organised, and, ahem, quite passionate fan base-they are able to avoid massive fan presence. A large part of a whole episode was filmed at the bottom of my road, within sight of my house, a year ago and literally no one knew-we were in the park at the time with a group of friends, saw a film crew and all assumed it was Casualty or something (and my kids, who were with me, are big Dr Who fans and if they'd spotted Matt Smith they'd have been over there). No screaming fangirls. Smallish van and just a roadblock. During the day-iirc they packed up before the school let out. We do get a reasonable amount of filming round here and I've never seen fans. They shut water off to the whole area once (think that was an accident, they just used a lot of water) and we only found out it was Dr Who filming when a group of us went down to complain.

So I really do suspect that if they wanted to film on the quiet they'd be able to do it. We've actually had roads closed off in Cardiff for filming. I'm pretty sure that the writers/producers do know what they are doing with the fandom.

Re: The game is on again (OFFICIAL NEWS ONLY PLEASE)

Some shots take a long time to set up, especially the stunt type ones that they have apparently been filming. It's entirely possible they filmed these other shots quickly as a bit of a joke whilst waiting for the crew to set up for the main shots.

Re: The game is on again (OFFICIAL NEWS ONLY PLEASE)

I couldn't help but had a look at someone's theories about the set. It seems odd. Doesn't make sense at all. It can be a nightmare or John is trying to work things out or John talks to people and their theories about how to survive the fall.
The writers may use some of our theories and show us that we were wrong.

Re: The game is on again (OFFICIAL NEWS ONLY PLEASE)

This was one of my ideas:

John really wants to believe that Sherlock isn't dead, despite the evidence of his own eyes and logic telling him that he is, there is so much of it that doesn't make sense to him. The Sherlock he knew would never commit suicide, and he knows for certain that he was lying in his "note", that he wasn't a fake, that he never researched him before they met or made up all the crimes etc etc.

So his mind starts working overtime trying to think of all kinds of crazy theories (like us lot!) and different scenarios that might mean he'd been fooled and that there was some possibility somewhere, some hope that he could cling onto that Sherlock might still be alive. These scenes that we've seen glimpses of are part of that, part of John's imaginary world of what might have happened. He couldn't actually remember that happening to him, but then, he wouldn't, if it had actually happened, so maybe that's one of his crazy theories...

And maybe it's at that point he decides he'd better start seeing his psychiatrist again just to sort his head out and try and get round to accepting that he's dead, which is where we pick up at the beginning and end of TRF. I mean, we don't know how long after Sherlock's death those appointments were, so it's possible we will see the immediate aftermath of his death or more of it than we did in TRF.

Re: The game is on again (OFFICIAL NEWS ONLY PLEASE)

Ok if you look up this person's Twitter feed the activity on the day in question is fun filming in London (jesus I hope that is nonspecific enough, honestly anyone googling Sherlock at this point is going to see these spoilers I reckon)

I think that probably suggest that this person was filming, not jsut having photos taken, and that it was a little less likely to be for their own show but rather a quick cameo.

Oh I will be so disapointed by this if we're all correct. Because since when did we have celebrity cameos on Sherlock? And laugh so hard if its John's fantasy "Sherlock is alive" sequence (because that's the other option...)

Re: The game is on again (OFFICIAL NEWS ONLY PLEASE)

Oh, I am just trying not to think about it.... I am already all nervous that the explanation will somehow spoil TRF for me and the spoilerish pics & article I saw (ok, I am weak...) only made me even more anxious...  I do hope Moftiss are plying with fans, I won't forgive them if after two years of tension they will offer us a cheesy solution!

I'd like to think they're better and cleverer writers than that.

That's a very interesting point, too. Doing it all on purpose. Would suit Moftiss somehow, I guess.

That are also my thoughts, but then again: I don't know Dr.Who. But for Sherlock I can tell that we at least know some of the places they have to return to. St. Bart's, "Baker Street" (Speedys). We have twitter. And as soon as ONE person recognises something: BOOM! Massive fan presence. Easy peasy.

So do I. And too clever to disclose the solution so readily.

But, yk, so does the Dr Who fandom. I mean its organised enough that when they were first filming they had to use a codeword (Torchwood, iirc, which is where the name of that show comes from). These guys are so well organised that within a day or two of a show being aired, the location sites normally have "normal" photos up of the locations.  Some of the locations near me are repeat locations, the supposed home of a companion, for example, and some are arc episodes. The Dr Who adult fandom is the fandom to end all fandoms, and they are exceptionally media literate, and organised.

Yet afaik they've been largely able to film without 400 screaming fans when they've wanted to.

In other words, please god let it be a clever ruse.

yeah that's true I guess.

Eighteen months of "how did they get out of that?" resolved by "oh, jim just changed his mind, again.".

hmm perhaps we are the ones being too clever.

Re: The game is on again (OFFICIAL NEWS ONLY PLEASE)

This quote just seems so appropriate right now:

Moriarty: I knew you'd fall for it. That's your weakness. You always want everything to be clever. Now shall we finish the game? One final act. Glad you chose a tall building. Nice way to do it.
Sherlock: Do it. Do what? Yes, of course. My suicide.
Moriarty: "Genius detective proved to be a fraud." I read it in the paper so it must be true. I love newspapers. Fairy tales... and pretty grim ones too.
