Re: Chit-chat

It's a bit chilly here at the moment, but mainly because the fan is on and I can't be bothered turning it off. It's all the way over there and I'm all the way over here... -sigh-

The solution is simple. Call John on his cell phone and tell him it's urgent.

Re: Chit-chat

Went up the mountain to ski with my daughter today and it was so blinking cloudy/foggy it was like skiing by Braille!  Probably the shortest day skiing ever!

Sounds dangerous! I know the last time I went skiing was over 20 years ago. (I've never put those slats of death on my feet again! LOL) It was a clear day, I can't imagine flying down the side of a mountain in low visibility!

Re: Chit-chat

We survived unscathed, dragging the ski poles helped, plus the signage here is good, although you couldn't see signs until you were practically on top of them! I am having my first proper ski lesson for about 8 years tomorrow! Eek!

Re: Chit-chat

Had a really good day today! My ski lesson (with a guy we have known on and off for years) was great! Then my kids joined us at mid-day and then we all skied together. I did manage to stack it a couple of times though!

Re: Chit-chat

Had some of the wires that are in my leg removed yesterday... his is a good thing because now cleaning my pin sites is easier and a bit less painless every night, and now I have a bit more movement in my foot. But the wires went in one side of my leg, through the bone and out the other side and they were pulled out while I was awake, so my leg's still recovering and I'm in a bit of pain, but I'm also two weeks behind uni work in my subjects, meanwhile all I want to do is sulk in bed. >_<

Aww! Sounds ghastly. Chocolate might help!

@Sampy That sounds horrible. Did you break it?

Re: Chit-chat

Oh, I have so much chocolate that I've taken to experiment with it, cooking it and mixing it in things and mixing other things in it, just so I don't have to eat plain chocolate anymore, haha. My boyfriend spoils me so much! ^_^

Kind of...I'm having one of my legs lengthened, so it was surgically broken and then we manipulated  the bone re-growth so it would grown an extra 4cms. So we did the stretching over a preiod of 40 days, and now we're kind of just waiting for it to heal itself.

My legs hurt when I read it...

Re: Chit-chat

Haha, thanks guys. It's not so bad, really. It could be worse.
Some people actually get this done just for cosmetic reasons because they want to be taller, so tey get it done to both of their legs.
That, I think is utterly insane. I'm only doing this because I had to.

I do miss the social aspect of being outside and going to uni and that sort of thing, but sometimes it's nice to wake up and not have any real reason to make yourself get up and do things.

Does that sound too anti-social of me? o_O I dunno.

I can't wait to get back to studying though, I'm going to be changing my courses and I want to do Ancient History and Religion Studies next year (I'm not religious, I just find it all fascinating).
One day I'd like to work in a museum or maybe work for an auction house.

Here's some photos, if anyone was interested:

Fascinating. You are a very brave person. How's the pain? (or is that a stupid question? sorry) I wish you the best.

Re: Chit-chat

Wow, I'm not surprised you're not walking. I would have had to have that done but I had a cast when I was younger. Can you even sit down with all that complicated framing?

Wow! That's amazing! Surgeons are clever, clever people aren't they.

Re: Chit-chat

Get well soon, Sampy. I hope this isn't just as painful as it looks. You must be very brave.

Re: Chit-chat

Ha, wow, thanks guys...it's not so bad now, though. Maybe I've just gotten used to it?
It used to be hell, though, and very frustrating. The pain now is fine, doesn't hurt too much at all.
You do get used to it, as much as you can...what surgeons can do is quite fascinating, yes, but also what the human body is capable of is even more amazing, I think. I never thought this would have been possible if my specialist hadn't of mentioned it to me.

I, uh...I have a blog too, just in case anyone was interested...
I thought I'd write one, because I was grossly under prepared for the whole thing. There's a lot of information about the process itself submitted by doctors and surgeons and such, but not all too much from the point of view of the patient.

Oh, and yes, I can sit down! Haha. I think life would be intolerable if I wasn't able to sit down!
And when I lay down, I just put a pillow under the frame, which really accomodates the whole thing.
I can sleep on either of my sides, my back, or my stomach, if I want.
