Database export and import ahoy!
This site is rich by SEO standards, that should transfer quite easily and make you more noticeable to Google et al.
I'd recommend a WordPress front with your forum behind a menu link. This allows for articles written by yourself and a 'select' few to push Sherlock news out, allows for easy sharing via Twitter and Facebook whilst keeping the foums as they are. I'm not too knowledgeable about transfering forum format but I'd look to have the URL of each thread depict the thread title, this will be extremely useful.
After than you'll be a professional site!
