okay thought I'd better introduce myself then. I'm beekeeper. I've always really liked the Sherlock Holmes stories but for the adventure and storytelling, not the crinolene so I'm very fussy about adaptations.
Have to admit I didn't expect to like the BBC Sherlock but am now pretty hooked! I also really like that its set in London and filmed in Cardiff-I'm a Londoner living in Cardiff so I recognise most of the locations between the two, which is sad but fun.
What I really appreciate about Sherlock is the emotional literacy. If you read the canon, Holmes is basically a bit of a pain. He is rude, socially inept and fires guns at the wall. You don't really get that, I think, in any of the other adaptations. You don't get Holmes as a PITA and you don't get the whole question of "why on earth does Watson put up with him?". I am so pleasantly surprised at how loyal to the books the series is.
Anyway. Looking forward to reading and posting.

hello back!
Like I said on the other thread though I think you'd be better off in London for locations.
Have run into Dr Who filming and the occasional dalek on occasion-Cardiff isn't that big so I think most locals have. And every so often they shut some key road and everyone is annoyed til we find out its for Dr Who, then its "ah that's lovely that is.". But not Sherlock thus far. Although they don't exactly advertise they are there-you do reasonably often see a film crew out and about in Cardiff but it could be for anything tbh and we have a film school here too.
