I love love love Sherlock. I utterly lack the ability to shut up about it. I've loved Martin Freeman since I saw him on the original Office. When I saw he was playing John Watson I had to watch. I loved the show immediately. I'm a sucker for a good bromance. I actually picked up the entire collection of Artur Conan Doyle stories when I saw the trailer for first Robert Downey Jr/ Jude Law film. I tell everyone who will listen that they have to put the BBC Sherlock in their Netflix queue. My parents don't think anyone can do better than Robert Downey Jr. I've been trying to convince them otherwise for a while. With Martin Freeman playing Bilbo ( my mom absolutely loved his performance) and Benedict Cumberbatch being in the new Star Trek movies, they are finally ready to give the BBC series a try. I'm taking my DVDs when I visit them on Easter. They will be converted. I don't think I've ever seen two actors who work together as wonderfully as Benedict and Martin. I love Joss Whedon shows because of the ensemble casts of people working together to save the world (or the verse). They have very different views on life, but they care about each other deeply. The way the casts of Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse (in the later episodes) react to the craziness of each other makes for comedy that is funnier than most sitcoms and drama that is more intense that most dramatic shows. I think Sherlock may even top Joss Whedon's shows, and I never thought that would happen. There are so many hilarious comedic moments between Sherlock and John as well as intensely dramatic, emotional moments, I'm never bored when watching the show. I've become a huge fan of Benedict Cumberbatch. Seeing some of his other work shows him to be one of the most versatile actors I've ever seen. I think I've become a total Cumberb**ch. I also love Harry Potter, but was annoyed at watching some of my favorite Characters get the shaft in the movies and many of the adult actors not even take the time to read the books. When watching Sherlock a few months ago, I had the thought that Benedict and Martin would make the perfect Sirius and Lupin. They's have the close friendship, sense of Humor, emotion and mischief down. (Martin at least read the Hobbit before doing the film, and it shows in his wonderful portrayal of Bilbo) He also has that loveable quality that makes women want to take care of him. That's the way women who read the books felt about Lupin. Benedict can do the slightly haughty bratty thing, while being willing to risk everything to protect the people he cares about perfectly.
Okay, I've rambled enough.

Welcome, jossabby, I think you'll fit in here perfectly! The high number of different topics in this forum shows you how good we all are in shutting up about Sherlock. (That is not at all!)
I love Firefly, by the way, and once, sooo long ago I spent an entire final seaon thinking "He's going to kill Buffy. Please don't kill Buffy. Oh, no, he WILL let her die in the end..."

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Hi Josabby. Loved your "ramble". I think I did the same kind of ramble when I first came on the Forum last May. It was such a relief to finally have someplace to spill my guts about my obsession with the show - and know that it would be accepted by everyone here. It's a great place. And just think, with a bit more patience, there will be lots of new material to talk about when S3 comes out. I'm sure you will easily convert your parents once they see your DVD's. Welcome!

I've been remiss lately in welcoming new members, but "Ohio" caught my attention. May I ask where in Ohio? (I'm in Michigan.)
Oh, and welcome!

Oh, and welcome!
I'm in Dayton where football season isn't safe because I support the Steelers and the Wolverines. Was actually born in Kalamazoo though. Nice to Virtually meet you, veecee. And thank you to everyone for the warm welcome.
