I have just tried to print out some attachments (a client thought to send me 42 attachments in one email for her case file.)

I have tried to print these attachments off for her file, and rather than print all the pages the bloody thing has just printed the same thing 42 times!

A printer is making me look like an idiot.

My boss is smirking at me and saying stuff like 'how could you not know how to do that?' Followed very quickly by 'its just paper don't worry' when I shot him a glare that would turn a lesser mortal to ash.

I love technology usually, I love computers, I love phones, I hate printers.

Everyone hates printers. Printers are tools of Basement Cat, out to get us. The Oatmeal has his own commentary on the evil of printers (site is irreverent and not always family friendly, if anyone's not familiar).

Re: Free Rants

Well, that was..  Freaking.  Lovely.  Lazily slow today with tinkering on anything, but eh, no big deal, with nothing urgent, and tends to be that way with mornings when your work shifts are evening ones.  Got to relax, and always tomorrow.  At least checking off routine allergy shot was due for again (that have been doing for a long time), from to-do list, before go to work.
But oh, wait... for the very first time ever, annoyingly sensitive body decides that it's mad about this unwanted guest!  And going to protest by having a party, with it's friends Allergic Reaction, Itchy Skin, Short O. Breath, and Flushed Temperature.  Thankfully, since it happened within a minute and told them, my awesome doctor gave me stuff to counter it, but unfortunately was quite late due to them (understandably, since they're very good) wanting to keep me a while to make sure went completely back to normal.
Then, it was absolutely dead at work once I made it there, topped off by happily hurrying out at night to bitter wind, and finding my car's driver's-side-view mirror on the ground, a little part left on the door from where it was knocked off by some ^$*& pain in the butt.  Gee, thanks!!
Oddly enough, (and I think the ability of this sentiment very interestingly does vary based on physicality/emotions/ability of the moment), am feeling more grumbly-but-passing-off, than anything getting completely ruined.   Nice to have grateful perspective, thinking about worse things that have happened, or happening for others.  Just getting to vent, and wanting to pass along the sentiment to others above me, hoping that those frustrations picked up for you as well!  Ehn...  time for bed.  Have a good night, all.  And cross my fingers against getting further peeved with the mirror being expensive to replace, or not, tomorrow.      (can I sic some Karma on them if it is?  using Sherlock to find?  pretty please?)  0:-)

Re: Free Rants

Hope you wake up fully removed from your shot. I've not heard of an injection to prevent allergies (except epi-pen but that is different). Maybe we should start an allergy thread. I think being tired etc. is quite usual after an 'attack'.

Aw, thank you Davina.  Just a on-and-off pain in the arse, really.  But you've not heard of allergy shots?  Really??  Thought wide-spread... annoyingly, not a 'cure', exactly, but regular shots from your doctor for whatever your body annoyingly decides it hates (dust, mold, pollens, animal dander, different foods, etc), to help tamper down the sensitivity.  Again, obviously need to avoid the allergen in the first place, and plenty of physical factors/habits that influence well-being, but the shots just help lessen it.  Frustratingly, again, it was never really a 'cure' for me, but I've noticed sinuses not -quite- so bad with it since started two years ago, especially as long as avoid those various things, and even changing my diet some months back helped a bit.  First time I've ever had a bad reaction to.  Epi-pens, of course, being those emergency-having-a-reaction things... which I think is what he used on me at the office.

Nnngg.  Ridiculous how such a majority of people you meet now are allergic/sensitive to something or other (especially with growing changes to our physical world!), and interesting all the ways to deal with, or all the little things can do now that help, hm?  True, even with just the mix of the group here, could probably fill a thread with!

Re: Free Rants

well  I got my flu shot  last week  and  i  felt  a little sick afterwards!!!!   too  tired and weak--  so  I  rushed home and put on SHERLOCK.

I've had trouble with MY  printer   a hundred times!!   I  so wanna kick it out the window.    I've had to uninstall it and reinstall it...even went online to HP  chat,  and they fixed it for me there too.   But  it's time consuming.

My  rant---ok---a calm  one....even tho  I had a full  spraying done for roaches back in november,   I'm  still seeing them!!!   some are alive but aren't fast, so I can kill em  with my shoe;  and some are dead!!   Yes,  I  see them   on  my kitchen floor.   You ain't supposed to see them  during the day  or  when you're in the next room,  whatever,  but.....ooops,  there goes another one.   I  got traps galore all over the place.  I  hate bugs  of ALL   kinds.   Ok  ok ok  ladybugs are cute,  but still....  WHY ME?   I'm the only one in my apt complex that's having  this problem.    Rant over.   Goodnight!!    It's past my bedtime.

Oh poor Kitty - that just stinks!  Sometimes when someone else in the complex sprays for bugs, they all come swarming into someone else's place to try and get away.

We feel for you. I don't have a problem with cockroaches, but mice have been coming into my kitchen via below my sink and stove. *cringe*

Re: Free Rants

Mice...ok...but preferably not in the house. Rats...no. Had massive problems with them at the stables this year. The other year they got into my friend's horse box (lorry) over winter and caused an incredible amount of damage. They ate shoe polish, gnawed through wiring, destroyed bedding and cushions etc. They had gained access through the rubber around the gear stick. Now her dad has made a metal plate to go around it so they cannot get in. Squirrels...fine outside but an absolute menace inside, especially in roof spaces and with wiring. I would not want to be in an enclosed space with a cornered rat or squirrel thank you very muchly.

I like rodents that are pets though...yes even rats.

Re: Free Rants

As far as 'rants' go this one is going to be rather mild mannered:

Yesterday I spent nearly an hour trying to break in a new rosin for my bow...

In the end I relented and spent a further hour rooting around in my home for my other one, the one where it has been worn down nicely.

I then spent another hour tuning a new violin which came in with all of its strings totally slack. Thank you very much you rat-bags at the music store... Something tells me you wanted a giggle at my expense.

Will someone please tell me what possessed me to do this to myself (again)?

I'm not bad... but don't expect me to be playing at weddings any time soon.

Re: Free Rants

Poor skitty! Don't they say that roaches would survive a nuclear holocaust?

I agree that they may be fleeing a treatment in someone else's apartment. The landlord should really do the whole building at once.

Two relatively harmless bugs that absolutely disgust me: centipedes and earwigs.

Re: Free Rants

Earwigs give me the creeps too as do Devil's Coach horse beetles and and cockchafers (yes, that's their name, even the name is *wrong* sounding.)

Don't get me started on wasps and spiders.

I don't like daddy long legs very much and I am, frankly, petrified of wasps (a logical fear, I maintain, due to the number of times I have been stung!)
