Thanks, but I think I'll stay down here for a while. It's safer.

I wasn't at home the whole day and now it's 20 past midnight. Just a quick good night picture before I'm off to bed. See you tomorrow.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

The new forum edict of not posting any photographs from sources other than the show is really eating into our fun around here, IMO.  Can we think about just posting the links, rather than the actual pictures? Surely if a photo is out there in the public domain, it's legit for anyone to go and look at, am I wrong about that? Just thought I'd throw the idea out there for consideration. If one or more of the mods are looking over my shoulder, and they have any input about this idea, maybe they'll give it.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

As you may be aware, I tend not to post pix much. This is what hampers me in taking part in fun activities like ' Guess the Details'.
As I'm a Luddite, if I did post, it would be just links anyway!
I can see a picture thread possibly being a tad hampered by such a new ruling(of which I was unaware).
But to be fair to the staff, 2 points:
1.  They have to legally protect themselves.
2.  People are free to google what they wish, in their own time.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Aggie, I don't think there's a general edict about the pics. Here a quote from Kazza taken from the respective thread:

"Look at the pictures you are going to post, if they have a copyright symbol on them, do not post them. Post a link to the image instead.
In terms of copyright law, unless you can prove fair use as reason for posting the image ( fair use includes things like educational or transformative reasons etc)

I won't mention which firm is the worst for pursuing forums like ours etc but please read up on the topic & be wary of what you post.
If it clearly has a copyright mark or watermark on it, don't use it & even worse, do NOT crop the image to remove the copyright. That is akin to defacing the item & therefore admitting guilt."

As long as we keep to these rules it shouldn't be a problem to post pics. So far I've never used pics that are obviously copyrighted and I never tamper with pics.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Thank you for reiterating the advice about posting of photos Susi. It is not just to protect the Admin from being sued but the poster themselves.

He does like a black tie wrapped around the neck doesn't he.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

I chose to post the link as this one was clearly taken from a magazine page.

What a creative way of wearing a tie.

Tobe: Thank you for the beautiful pic. I went to bed in tears yesterday because I missed your good night treat.

A tie with fringes? Sorry girls, I think it is a scarf. A noble one though. ;-)

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Fine, it's a scarf. Somehow I paid more attention to the face. And I think it's from last autumn.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Sometimes you need a scarf with fringes,

sometimes you don't need a scarf at all.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

I read the word ' fringes' as ' fingers'!
