And here I am

Hello to everyone!

First I have to mention I have never written an introduction in english before.
I was already stalking this forum for a couple of days and now I decided to register.
Now to myself.
I am a sixteen year old girl and I'm from Germany. So my english is not very well but I will try my best.
I think I don't need to explain why I'm here.
Right now I'm watching The Great Game.
Warning: I'm not familiar with the original version, I'm watching all episodes in german.
Guess I will need some time to adjust to the "right" quotes etc.
And I'm also not familiar with Conan Doyles Sherlock Holmes, I only love the bbc series.

That was all, I guess.
I'm hoping for a nice time here and a happy new year of course.

Greetings
Mary Me
(Really, I don't know why I've chosen this user name, twist of fate)

Re: And here I am

Hello and welcome! Great that you decided to register at last!
As far as I can see (ahem) your English is quite good. As you maybe noticed not everyone here is native speaker. So don't worry!
I'm sure you will have a lot of fun around here!

What confuses me: you watch all episodes in German - but you have tried a bit of the undubbed version, right? If not, open up the English (or German) subtitles and give it a try.
Most pleasant way to improve your English. (Next to joining this forum of course.  )

Re: And here I am

Thanks for your friendly response ;)

Well, I am mostly sherlocking, so maybe I'm familiar with a few quotes.
I fear I cannot try the undubbed version, I do not own the DVDs - the six episodes are all TV recordings.

Re: And here I am

Welcome to the forum, Mary Me, nice to have you here. It's great you got Sherlocked just from watching the German version. I needed the original to get hooked, but since then I'm a hopeless case. If you get the chance to borrow the DVDs or get them for your birthday or whatever, give it a try. I often watch films in English with English subtitles. So I don't have to switch between languages but understand all they're saying.

Re: And here I am

If I get the chance, of course I'll give it a try.
But actually I'm pretty happy with the german version.  The synchronisation is well done in my opinion.

Oh and one question:
How many posts do I need to get the next level? I don't want to be a WRONG anymore :D

Re: And here I am

15. You're nearly there.

And the dubbing itself is good, no doubt. Most of all it was Benedict's voice that did it.

Re: And here I am

Willkommen, Mary Me!
So, watching the undubbed version experience is still awaiting you... Well. good luck with that - could be dangerous...
What about watching a tiny little clip in the original version on youtube? You may get an impression.
Enjoy your stay here!

Re: And here I am

Willkommen. Happy to have you here with us. At some time try and watch it in English with German sub-titles. It is a very good way of improving your English.

Don't make people into heroes John. Heroes don't exist and if they did I wouldn't be one of them.

Welcome! Your English is great.  I didn't know it took a certain amount of posts to be "wrong" or any of those comments.  How did you learn that?

I checked out the user list. And the user that were wearing the title "Wrong!" had a small count of comments. I'm used to this kind of system.

Re: And here I am

Lol. Life keeps me too busy to reply to the introductions sometimes, so I go through them all in one big batch every couple of weeks or so!

Yeah, I'm really pleased with the way it's taken off and become so popular!
