Hello hello! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Canada, a new member of the 30's club and a huge Sherlock fan (obviously). I was once a Sherlock skeptic as I tend to avoid things with a lot of hype but now Sherlock is my reason for getting up in the morning
I'm looking forward to reading through the forum topics as I've just skimmed through them, and meeting other people who are similarly obsessed.
Happy 2013 everyone!

Hello Kate3.0, welcome to the boards. I'm sure you will enjoy your time here.
I too avoided the hype for a while but sometimes, as you also discovered, there is a reason why something is popular.
Happy New Year to you too! See you on the threads.

Hello and welcome here!
I didn't follow (or try to avoid) any hype, because here where I live is none!
So for my friends and colleagues I'm still kind of an alien.
But HERE I feel at HOME

I'm lucky that my friends who were fans forced me to watch the show by promising me I'd love it. I don't think they expected me to love it quite as much I do!

Hello and welcome to the forum (madness).

Welcome, Kate 3.0, nice to have you here. Where I live there's no hype either so I'm very glad to have this forum.

Thanks, Davina, Susi and Harriet! This looks like a fun, welcoming space and I'm really glad to see there's a mix of people of all ages, countries, etc. I have been trying to get my Sherlock fix online and while some Twitter and Tumblr things are cute, they kind of make my head hurt. I'm much more comfortable with actual sentences. I guess I'm internet old skool.

Happy 2013 backatcha, and welcome. What part of Canada is home? I LOVE Canada.... but I've only ever visited in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, not that far from my own area. Going to Prince Edward Island is on my bucket list.

Funny, the New England states are on my bucket list! I'm a born-and-raised New Brunswicker. We had to move to Ontario a few years ago for my husband's job but my heart is definitely back home. We used to visit PEI almost every summer growing up. I was back there for a vacation this summer and fell in love with the island again.

Is it the same now there is 'The Bridge'?

No, it's not the same the same "holiday feel." But it's more convenient and it's always a wonderful moment when you go over the bump in the middle and see the island spread out before you. That said, I would still take the boat if I had time.

Hi Kate.
Nice to meet you and glad you could join us here!
I avoided the hype by not watching the first series at all when it was initially aired. It was only my parents who managed to persuade me to watch the second series because they knew I'd like it.
