Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Let me just add my two cents to the discussion: I think that George Clooney and Brad Pitt are quite attractive men and I absolutely welcome their political and social commitment. I think it's just that finding them attractive is the more obvious choice compared to being attracted by Benedict as they conform to more conventional standards of good looks. And it's also about what the author calls the female gaze. Most men would concede that Clooney and Pitt are good-looking but in Benedict's case it seems to be a very female perception.

Moreover, we shouldn't forget that they have very long-standing and established careers and thereby much influence which ensures that their opinions are heard. When Clooney takes up position, many people will at least listen and maybe even think about it. Benedict jumping on a bike and collecting 27,000 is just another and equally worthwhile way of showing social commitment in a smaller but nonetheless personal way.

I can get behind your defense of Clooney. I've heard him speak and he's both smart and funny. I've always thought of him as a modern day Cary Grant and I know he's not "pretty vacant". When I referenced him or Brad Pitt, I simply meant as examples of what popular media would consider more conventionally handsome men.
Although humanitarianism in and of itself isn't always a sign of a man or woman's true character.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Hopefully I didn't miss a .gif of this elsewhere. Saw this at the end of a not-particularly-great Cumberbatch video and thought "this needs to be in the picture thread." A Cumberbatch wink & wave:

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Yes, this mattress would do very nicely.

I don't know where the other picture's from. A stage play?
