I think we're speaking of the same lady.

I saw one where I thought it was a wedding pic...that made me very cross.
She's a bit of a celebrity in the group I belong to, personally I think she's an idiot.
I think she blocks me anyway, which suits me fine.

That's the one she wanted him to sign at Cheltenham. She got only the word "terrifying" and his initials.

They were all cheering about her video of ' The Incident'.
It was cringe worthy.
Way to go to humiliate that beautiful, talented, high intelligent and lovely man, in public.

I watched it, too, and thought that she simply didn't understand how embarrassed he was. For me this has nothing to do with being a fan.

I have to say, I now feel a bit bad.
I've visited her site and read the back story.
Actually some of her stuff is quite clever and amusing.
So I can only assume she did just think it was a bit of a laugh.
But yes, I just felt Benedict was trying to be nice and polite, but he appeared a tad uncomfortable...maybe more nonplussed.
Possibly it's more about different senses of humour and what we think is ' the done thing'.

I have no idea who you are talking about.
Have visited her site, too, and cannot agree with you, besleybean. Might be "just a joke" what she did at Celtenham, but especially the site shows me that there is...... more.
Sorry, to me all this seems a bit too strange, weird, terrifying - whatever you might call it.

IMO there's still a difference between people writing e.g. an erotic/pornographic fanfic about fictional characters (no matter by whom they may be played in real life) or posting such "poems" or other stuff about a real person in their blog and confronting this real person with their stuff.

Which was my initial reaction and the one I brought here...
Then I guess I bottled it a bit.
Partly cos it dawned on me, somebody here may know her.
But also because I didn't want to appear unduly harsh, or indeed unfair.
I think I would have understood it more if she had been a silly, young fan girl, which she clearly isn't.
To me, Benedict clearly didn't want to take the pix...which(as I understand) were like the ones on her site...
Possibly too, Cheltenham was neither the time or the place.
I feel there's a fine line between doing something funny for your idol and self- promoting.
But maybe we'll all have our own views on these things.
I wouldn't have mentioned it at all, if somebody above hadn't referred to a ' marriage cert'.
Think we're way OT anyway, so sorry.

I once saw a post on Tumblr where someone had created a marriage certificate between themselves and Benedict. THAT is outright freaky creepy
I recently saw a video of some woman who was old enough to know better, trying to push extra things across the desk for Ben to autograph (I believe it's supposed to be one item per customer-- at least every meet and greet I've ever been to has had that policy), and one of the things looked to be a wedding picture, with her own face manipped onto the bride's body, and guess who was the groom? Absolutely cringe-worthy. Something she pushed at him he looked at and then threw into the rubbish down at his feet, lol, and she finally moved on. See, it's crazies like that who give all fans a bad name. Ugh.

No problem, it was quite an interesting discussion.
And now for something completely different:

He handled it nicely, though. Polite. It made me want to hug him, but then every-darned-thing makes me want to hug him, lololol. All he needs is one more old-enough-to-know-better crazy trying to hug him.
So the woman with the marriage stuff, is she Type A Fan or Type B?? *g*

Yes, right, OT..
Let me just add: I don't have a problem if anyone here knows her because I think I just told my opinion and that in an objektive, not offending way. At least I hope so. And I don't think it's a problem or "bad" to discuss it here. If you put your thoughts officially in the net you have to reckon all kinds of reaction anyway.
So, any nice picture we didn't see yet, anyone?
Edit: Oh, and there it is!! Thanks, Susi. Hey, take away the coat and you have me sitting (t)here!

I didn't think he looked embarrassed. I thought he was more pissed off than anything. But in a quiet, controlled way, of course. If nothing else, Ben is always polite. And he knows that, one thing about encounters like that one, they're soon over and passed by.
Not understand? Oh, I think she knew exactly what she was doing. Got his attention, didn't she, and did stuff he won't forget for a while, a few minutes at least. Cringe-worthy, absolutely.

You know, every time I see that scene I think: well actually Sherlock, I fit into neither of those categories!
Oh sorry, we all cross posted! I meant on the toilet scene.
For the pic Susi posted: I was really upset when I 1st saw that scene: how could Sherlock shut out John that way. But I think he was trying to protect John, tho it spectacularly backfired.

Humor is quite subjective, that's true, but.... to me, the #1 problem with that whole thing was that she was monopolizing him and holding up the line. Hey, he does those meet and greet autograph things out of the goodness of his heart, and maybe to get a wee bit of publicity, which anyone with a head on their shoulders would know he doesn't need.
The deal at those things is usually that you pay a certain fee and for that fee you get to greet the star and get one item autographed. No one's meant to stand there and have a real conversation with the star, and no one's supposed to say more than something like hi, I enjoy your work, it's an honor to meet you , maybe with a handshake. And then move on! There are 500 people behind you, after all!
Somewhere, somehow, that woman got the idea that the rules were for everyone else, not for her. Humorous? I thought it was nasty and selfish, but then this kind of thing is a pet peeve of mine. *shrug*

I feel it may have seemed like a good idea at the time...but didn't quite turn out as expected...it was the filming bit, which is a bit freaky.

Everyone has a cell phone, and everyone wants to use it. Which of course the stars know- they're aware that anytime they're in public, people all around them could be snapping pics or filming.
Sorry I'm late to this discussion and you all want to move on. It's only 8AM here....

I think that was some of her "Sherlock porn" she printed out, if I heard it right. And I don't think he threw it away, he just put it aside to all the other stuff. If I observed right. lol
Polite and well-educated.
