Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Mattlocked, you mean 'mollycoddled' as in spoilt, cosseted. Coddled is a way of cooking eggs by baking or steaming them.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Oh, I know the expression "coddled eggs"....
Well, makes a complete new meaning for me now.  LOL

AG, the pic's from Parade's End and your description is very fitting. There are many scenes in which he looks somehow washed out just because he's in the war, doesn't sleep and at the home front is ruined by his wife. He looks very pale throughout the whole film. But the face is really beautiful, I think.
And I shall let you thud before this day is over.

This is Sherlock, right? Yes. Someone did something to this photo. He looks as though he has lipstick on. Beautiful pic otherwise, yes, but I don't prefer the made-up look, lol. He's pretty enough by himself.

Interesting about the Parades End thing. What I was reacting to was not just the blond hair with the dark roots (ugh), but the red-rimmed, tired eyes and unshaven face. The man is such a wonderful actor, isn't he. Although I knew nothing about PE, I could see the desperation and unhappiness there-- I labeled it as a crackhead look, but now that you've explained it to me,  I can certainly see now the scenario you've outlined. Thanks. I thought I was imaging things there.....

Editing this to add that I love his thumb joints. Yeah. Sigh. I've got it bad.

Oh, I think people can be coddled, can't they? *goes to online dictionary*  Yes. "Treat with excessive indulgence." Mollycoddle is a synonym for coddle, according to my dictionary, so both are correct.

And yeah, eggs can be coddled as well, but we just call them poached. Coddled is a nice old Victorian word, isn't it, for eggs? I haven't heard it in like forever.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Another visual aid for Aggie. Black and white so you don't see the blonde hair. And without cheek padding, I'd say.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Sorry, of course it's for all the fangirls over here. I just thought Aggie needed more material for her evaluation.

Nope. Me either. I guess I don't like the Parade's End look, lolololol.
My fave is Sherlock, of course.
2nd fave is Ben being himself, or on photo-shoots. Mmm.
A couple of his period pieces have left me cold. I didn't like Atonement or War Horse either.
Some of the others I haven't seen yet.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Is there a thread like this for Martin/John on this forum?

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Susi, you misunderstood. AG, you got me right.

And yes, there is a thread for Martin, just not so highly frequented, therefore vanishing again and again..

Now I don't remember if Andrew has a thread.....

What's the verdict on this one?  He looks really young to me here.  But I love the unbuttoned shirt...

I want to give him some pocket money. And then ask him if he could help me crossing the street.

Unbuttoned? Well, I think there are more than just two buttons on his shirt...
