Re: Chit-chat

I'm sorry it's still that long. Doesn't seem to be much fun, you said you hate your dentist.

Re: Chit-chat

I do love my dentist. He is special, so funny I could laugh my head off. But I see him way too often, though ...

Is he at least a good doctor?

Re: Chit-chat

I think he is good...but my mother don't like him.
And he isn't really funny...I am going to say like Sherlock about ordinary people : " My dentist is an idiot, an ordinary idiot dentist".

Re: Chit-chat

If you think he's good, that is what matters. Even if he is predictable, dumb, dull, boring and tedious.

LOL

But that's so true!
I had a "funny" one years ago. But what does it help if he is joking all the time but you think he is not good - AND expensive!
Now my dentist mostly doesn't talk at all. What I like because I think he's concentrating on his work. And that's all he has to do.

Re: Chit-chat

If I thought he wasn't a good doctor, I would not go either, like you.
Good for me: I left a not-so-skillful dull one for a hilarious quite good one.
I'm glad these characteristics don't always exclude each other.

My funny one helps me a lot to relax and I enjoy going there, instead of postponing an appointment

Re: Chit-chat

My dentist didn't charge me for my last visit because he said we laughed so much. Honestly! How often does that happen?

Emy - There was a conversations about braces on the forum a while back -- either here in chit-chat or in free rants. You might want to check it out.

The Brits also call the things that hold up your pants braces, but we call them suspenders in the US. And I think in the UK suspenders are what we call garters in the US. So, you see, even we English speakers don't always speak the same language. You can find some funny things in the languages thread.

By the way, I'm a full-grown woman, but I may be getting braces soon -- one my teeth, not my pants!

Oops almost forgot: We Americans say pants for trousers. In the UK, pants are underwear.

But then, if a Sherlockian, why should she get Susi's book, if not for the forum connection?

Because you find the words "Sherlock Holmes" in Leo Berlin.

Today, walking through the pedestrian zone of one of my neighbour cities, suddenly THIS caught my eye:

...that would be: "Put Leo on the lead."
Leo - what have you done...? Susi, didn't you pay attention?

(Just for the record: yes, I know it concerns the Leo tank.)

Oh, I love that, Tobe. Don't know what he's been up to, the naughty boy. May I post the photo on FB?

Yes, great dentist! We should bring ours together and watch them perform.

Re: Chit-chat

My dentist is already retired but he still fixed couple of cavities I had on a saturday in his old office, for free of charge. He's a family friend and a really cool guy. He knows pretty much everything about Lord of the Rings, Greek mythology, atrology etc. He has one of those brains that when he reads something, it sticks to his memory. I mean he knows all the family-trees from the LOTR book by heart.
