Bookish

This new Mark Gatiss series looks like fun! First episode on the 16th July.

Re: Bookish

Yes, I keep seeing the trailer and it looks fab...do we have a start date yet?
Oh sorry, I just scrolled down to the end of your post.
Cheers.

Re: Bookish

Looks like it could be fun. I will have to see if it becomes available here eventually. I saw an article that PBS will be airing it, so I will have to look out for it since sometimes they air things some time after they air in the UK.

I must admit that I had trouble understanding what was going on in the trailer, but I feel like my brain hasn't been working at 100% since I started my new job last week. I've been able to focus on work, but with anything outside of work I've been feeling a little hazy. Hopefully once I've adjusted to the new schedule more, that feeling will go away.

Re: Bookish

Congratulations on the new job!
Don't worry too much, about your brain...
you are trying to tune into Mark's brain -
and that does take some doing!

Re: Bookish

Congratulations from me too! It's a big deal starting a new job, even if you love it. Kind of good that you're able to focus at work at least. I hope once you settle in it will be better outside of work.

I've become really slow recently (taking a while to understand things). It's really hot here and I think that isn't helping!

Re: Bookish

Thank you both! I feel I have adjusted to the schedule a bit better now. And I'm enjoying my work so far and the team is nice, including some people I have worked with before.

Re: Bookish

Well Mark is very lucky.
There are not many men who can make me stay up, way after my bedtime...but he is one of them.
Had I known it was a double episode, I may have tried to watch it earlier...if I could.
Anyhow, it was worth staying up for.
Beautifully filmed.
Good script, with both canonical and BBC Sherlock references.
Good performances.
Intriguing...

Re: Bookish

Where are you watching it? I couldn't find it and then realised that my NOW sub has lapsed. I will find a way!
I'm not surprised to hear there are Sherlock references! Looking forward to trying to spot them!

Re: Bookish

Oh right and sorry, tried to make my review as spoiler free as possible as usual...
I have the U&Alibi channel that it airs on.

Re: Bookish

I see Rupert Graves has been cast for Season 2! (Also Simon Callow, who has previously played Sherlock and LeStrade, and Jason Watkins who has played Watson!)

I still haven't seen Season 1. There's an offer just now for a NOW sub so might just resubscribe so I can watch it: I had been trying to trim down my subs as still have Netflix, Prime, etc!

Re: Bookish

Ooh, saw a headline about exciting new cast and wondered who they were...

Re: Bookish

Just watched the first three episodes of series 2.
The standard has been maintained...
actually watching a Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes, now!

Re: Bookish

I am so pleased for Mark...
I feel this is the kind of series that he always envisaged writing...
so he had total creative freedom.
Not feeling he had to be loyal to the original, as with Sherlock.
