Just watched The Roses recently, another adaptation of the book The War of the Roses was based on. It has had kind of mixed reviews. Personally, I thought it was great, really witty and I felt Benedict and Olivia Coleman gave depth to their characters. Although it was over the top, you could really see why they loved and hated each other.

I still want to watch this. I liked their interviews and their chemistry, so much fun.

Hi, guys.
Didn't realise that I hadn't posted on this.
I have avoided seeing it, but my son and daughter-in-law loved it.
I love both the actors.
But my late husband and I saw the original film years ago and we weren't over impressed.

I liked the original film, but I preferred the new one, so might be worth a look when it comes on TV/streaming. I've been reading that most people prefer the older one and I'm kind of surprised. It's years since I watched the first one so maybe it's better than I remembered, but it seemed less nuanced. Maybe I just like the actors more in this one.

I didn't read very positive reception to the film, and I haven't gotten a chance to go to the cinema in months, but I am still kind of curious since I really like both Benedict and Olivia.
I knew it was kind of a remake of another film, but I haven't seen that one yet either. I had wondered whether I should watch the original one first or not. I saw Spike Lee's remake of the Kurosawa film High and Low last year, without having seen the original, and thought it was kind of fun but now I know that when I go to watch the original it might not be as surprising as if I had gone in fresh. But I also don't know how much was changed between the two version and if the original is even better than I will still enjoy it. I still enjoyed Ikiru even though I saw Living with Bill Nighy first. I liked both versions.
