To be fair to Mark and Steven...
their hands were kind of forced, when Benedict and Martin made it clear they would no longer be available.
The guys wanted to go out with a bang and I can only repeat that I personally loved what they did.
I only wish they had been a little more honest with us, but magic of TV and all that.
I also don't think the relationship was broken and as far as I am concerned, our heroes are still out there solving crimes together.
To me it's history now. That was the series that was. It wasn't near long enough, but I still remember it fondly.
I have discovered so many other show since and can recognise the influences/inspirations for Mark and Steven.
@Liberty. Sorry, only just saw your post!
Well again to try and be fair, it's not only TV series...
I never liked the end of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights!

I haven't watched it in so long: didn't it end with a Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid style running out together? But the assumption that the origin story was completed and they would go on solving crimes together. I need to rewatch that one. I did kind of like the premise of a secret sister, and her being in disguise in previous episodes. I liked having more Mycroft and exploring that relationship a bit more too.
What didn't you like about the ending of Wuthering Heights? I love that book and the ending kind of works for me. But I don't think I've thought about it very deeply!

To be fair, not read Wuthering Heights for about 50 years! Ha.
As For Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid...that always works for me.
After all, Alias, Smith and Jones, was one of my favourite TV series ever.
