Another German Sherlock fan

Hello!
During the past few days I have spent hours reading through this forum, so I thought I might as well register and say hi!

I live in Germany - I noticed there are some other Germans here around, how nice. I’m 28 and would never have thought that anything could turn me into a fangirl again, let alone get me to join a fandom, but obviously someone said "danger"  and here I am.
I liked Sherlock a lot after watching it on German television, so I bought the DVDs and found it even better with the original voices, watched it over and over again … looked it up on the internet and found out there was this huge fandom and all that funny stuff going on …
On top of that, after making the fatal mistake of spending an enormous amount of time watching little videos on Youtube, I developed a severe case of Benedict Cumberbatch obsession. The effect that man and his voice have on my emotions is not normal and probably unhealthy, but I like it.

When not surfing the internet for silly videos, I normally work in an office, teach my old dog new tricks and like reading books, writing (not fan fiction ), drawing and many other things.

My English is probably only 62% accurate, I hope I didn’t make too many stupid mistakes.

Guten Morgen, QE,
you made the right choice to come here - welcome!
Your progression of desease/infatuation/obsession/addiction sounds similar to mine.
Get well soon. (not really! )
Enjoy the forum!

Re: Another German Sherlock fan

Hey!  Although I'm not German, we have a few things in common... I'm close to your age (just turned 29) and totally fell in love with the show when I bought the DVDs.  I starting following some Pinterest boards, saw lots of Benedict pictures and a few videos, developed an unhealthy obsession with Mr Cumberbatch, and then needed someone with whom to share my feelings!  So naturally, I came here, just a week or so ago.  And now I've started getting into fanfics, fanvids, and watching pretty much anything Benedict has ever done.  I'm sure you and I will get along just fine!

Some of my favorite areas of the site are the Benedict picture thread, the section about Ben's non-Sherlock works (especially Parade's End) and the Johnlock fanfic thread...    Hope to see you around!

And your English is much better than that of many of my friends and most of my students, who are almost all native speakers...

Mycroft’s popularity doesn’t surprise me at all. He is, after all, incredibly beautiful, clever and well-dressed. And beautiful. Did I mention that?

Re: Another German Sherlock fan

Welcome, QE, your Sherlock career sounds quite like mine. Watching the English DVDs did it to me and I haven't recovered since. Great to have you here.

Welcome, QE! Those YouTube videos are deadly, aren't they? I never watched, or understood, why others made and watched fanvids before Sherlock. Now it makes perfect sense.

I've "learned" it some years ago, when I started watching all those Alan Rickman fanvids - with background lovesongs........

Re: Another German Sherlock fan

Deadly, indeed. I always think, just one, just for fun - and end up spending hours watching random useless stuff. But everything that has either "Sherlock" or "Cumberbatch" in the title is worth wasting time on, right?
