I saw this movie a couple of weeks ago and I really liked it. It's based on someone's real life, though I haven't endeavored to see how much of his story they changed.
It's about a Pakistani boy named Javed growing up in England. His father has different ideas than him about what he should do with his life (Javed wants to be a writer, but his father wants him to study economics). As he starts college and the conflict continues with his father, another student at his school introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteen and the music guides him through him.
I really enjoyed this. I thought it was a touching story that also had a lot of fun musical moments. In some ways it's like an ode to what it's like to be a very enthusiastic fan of music, and how that music can transport you, make you feel good, and provide consolation.
Has anyone else seen it?
