Re: Gypsy Boy

For me it's absolutely nothing to do with sexuality.
It's totally that the book does not portray this community in a very positive light.

Re: Gypsy Boy

I am actually quite pleased.
Think this would have been a controversial one for Benedict...though at least it would have stopped the endless complaints of type casting I have to tolerate.
But I found the book hard enough, wasn't exactly looking forward to seeing Benedict in the film....

Re: Gypsy Boy

Well, that's show biz...
I hope the writer of the book will be happy with how this turns out, since he seemed very happy with Benedict being cast in the movie.

Clueing for looks.

Re: Gypsy Boy

I have no doubt that Dominic will be excellent.

Re: Gypsy Boy

I am not too sad either. The book was an interesting read but I could not for the life of me imagine Benedict in the part of the father. Of course he is brilliant in doing controversial characters but this one just did not seem right for him.

Re: Gypsy Boy

Think it could have brought him a lot of flack...

Re: Gypsy Boy

I think it would have been interesting to see him do a part so against type.  But I haven't read it!  And I understand what you're saying about the flack, BB, it does sound like a controversial part.  Dominic West is a fantastic actor and I'm sure he will be great.
