I remain sceptical and Benedict deliver an interview in Italian?!
But I will be overjoyed if it's true and I wouldn't care if it was a season, series or even an episode!
I wouldn't normally believe anything could be ready, because Steven is always notoriously late with his writing...but he doesn't have Who now- or possibly they've just butchered the original S 5 they had...cos remember, we were all sure S 5 was commissioned?
EDIT: incidentally I just put that article through translate and the English is dreadful...Benedict wouldn never speak that badly!
I appreciate that bad grammr doesn't equate with misunderstanding...but, we'll see!

Well, I don't suppose google translate is very accurate, so if it had happened that he was interviewed in English, then it was translated to Italian, and then back to English, then I'd expect it to be pretty garbled! Does he speak Italian? Or is the English quote the original? Or was he interviewed in English, translated to Italian, and then the quote is translating back to English?

I dunno, but really: why would he suddenly let this little gem slip out now? Although granted he is infamous for letting things slip.
And not being funny, why to an Italian magazine?!

I have to admit, I am sceptical as well. It sounds a bit odd that he would reveal something like that.

I think you are both right, and I was being overly hopeful!  Would be fantastic if it was true!  It's possible that he could just inadvertently let something slip, perhaps even more likely to a non-English publication when he might not be so guarded.   But I don't think it fits with what he or anyone else has said previously, unfortunately.  "Never say never" sounds kind of negative too, as if he was considering saying "never", and what does he mean by a "margin for dealing"?  It's quite possible that something is lost in translation.
I'm expecting that if we do get S5 news, it won't be very soon.

Translation software has no way of knowing what Benedict said! Or anybody else - I have never yet seen a good mechanical translation. Google translate doesn't even do a good job with the article's title (though it did confirm what I thought - Benedict is leaving Dr. Strange behind and promoting Melrose).
By the way, the article's last line is: «C’è chi dice che dovrei fare più commedia. O magari un musical o un horror. Perché no? Più che a generi, però, sono interessato ai registi e alle persone con cui lavoro» And this time Google delivers, I believe (never learnt Italian): "Some say that I should do more comedy. Or maybe a musical or a horror. Why not? More than genres, however, I'm interested in the directors and the people I work with."

Slightly off topic but in case anyone needs a machine translation. This is the best I have ever seen, far better than Google:

Very useful to know! Thanks, Susi!

Thanks, Susi.
I don't normally bother with translations.
But of course this had me intrigued and I guess I was kind of looking for my scepticism to be confirmed!

Thanks, Susi, it's bookmarked! 'Cause faced with a website in a completely foreign language a machine translation is better than none...
besleybean, the only way to find out what BC really said would be to either contact him or Lorenzo Soria. Who happens to be in Los Angeles, so I'm  100% sure that the interview took place in English! It was part of the Infinity War promotion activities, by the way - Marvel wants Italians to go see the film...

Wonder if it will be picked up by other news outlets...

I'd suggest to do a search for Benedict Cumberbatch and Infinity War to find his promotional interviews... Le Figaro has one as well: but it stays on topic.

As most of the others have seemed to, so far.

Not sure where to put it but I take it as a sign that the show is alive and kicking (and I tried my luck by donating, you never know):
What about you, besley? Breakfast with Andrew, eh?

Sorely tempted...but another expensive trip to London?
Good cause anyway and absolutely the best prize.

I think you do not have to pay for the trip and the hotel, just for the donation. This is all-inclusive.

Oh wow that is good then...

Wow, this is awesome. I think I will donate. I most probably won't win, but it's for a good cause anyhow.
Too bad Martin isn't part of it.

I wouldn't have expected him to be. He rarely does these things- the old grump.

Tbh, I find it a bit disappointing that Martin does not participate. It is charity after all.
