It's only my opinion, of course, but I would always prefer even an old German manufactory much more than  a newly built instrument.

I guess I can relate to what you're saying. I wouldn't give up my family's piano (which was made in the 19th Century) for any new one.

Oh, you lucky! How is the sound of your family's gem - still decent enough? Surely, such antique piano needs a lot of constant care (as any older instrument in general). I already put a pretty nice sum into restoration of my beloved fiddle. 😊
