This was the first of the trio of events I attended today and to be honest, the one I was most looking forward to.
I can't say it was anything breathtaking, just always a delight to hear Mark.
He did say something about the backlash to S4 and its predictability.
Most exciting for me was that Ian was sitting just across the aisle form me: he is a very beautiful and and he was so sweet, he clearly adores Mark!
Sitting right behind Ian was Frank Skinner, who later interviewed Steven.

Sounds like it would have been enjoyable. Was it as an introduction to something else or a talk on its own?

The three talks were just part of the BFI/Radio Times festival, I was unable to score tickets for Tom Hiddleston!
I remembered some of the interesting things Mark did speak about:
First of all he completely sent up the concept of 'Method acting', that was hilarious.
He also talked most affectionately about the wonderful support he received from his old school teachers.

Would've loved to be there, Mark seem such a lovely person.

Sigh. Lucky you, Besley.

He was most amusing, kept going on about David Cameron f------g the UK with the Brexit vote etc!

It was a really nice talk. I enjoyed hearing about and seeing clips from different roles of his.
In regards to the fan backlash Mark was talking about TAB rather than S4 but I'm sure he was probably thinking about the response to S4 as well.
Offline
I was trying to remember who else was there, too!
I'm not sure if Mark was just talking about TAB, I seemed to remember it as two different conversations...I know the interviewer said she really liked TAB- but I could be remembering wrongly.
I also remembered how funny he was talking about Game of Thrones: saying how he enjoyed his character and scenes, but hadn't a clue about the rest of it!

I didn't know he appeared on that show.

Yes and I thought he was done with it, but apparently he is going to be in again.
He has a fairly minor role, but of course plays it very well...I'm up to S 5 I think and he's only been in a few scenes so far.
He also spoke affectionately of his role in Taboo and we all love that brilliant series!

His "who cares" when asked about the fan backlash was definitely in regards to TAB but I think as you say when he said that the inevitability of a fan backlash was wearying it was probably more about the show in general and so would have included S4.
I've not seen any Games of Thrones but I did like hearing how he enjoyed being in it even if he doesn't know what it's about
The League of Gentlemen always makes me laugh so it was good to hear that the guys will be getting together to do something in the future. Mark joked that "local shop for local people" characters are now a bit of a symbol of Brexit Britain and that how when he joked that they would be filming a Brexit special people took him seriously so now that's what they might end up doing.

But he explained the GOT thing with a funny story abut some other actor, though I can't remember who it was : you know the comment about " they were all beautiful, darling, but I didn't understand a word of it!"
Remember some actors do just turn up, do their work and go home...they haven't a clue about the rest of the episode, series or even the show, in some cases!
I am rather reminded of darling Russell Tovey and his comments on THOB commentary...he clearly hasn't a clue about Sherlock, sweetheart though he is.
Can't wait for The Brexit Special League of Gentlemen!

Yeah I can't remember who the other actor was that he mentioned when talking about GoT either haha.
Offline
Though I do remember him reveling in Jonathan Pryce's liberal use of the 'f-word' in Taboo!
Offline
Yeah, that amused Mark immensely!

Typically of me, I have only just remembered the funniest part of all...
Mark talking about having to repeatedly film the gay orgy scene in London Spy...he enjoyed that, too!
Offline
The scene or talking about it? Naughty boy…
Offline
The scene!
They spent hours doing it originally and then ages after, they were called back to spend hours doing it all again.
As he said; they call it work!
Offline
The gay orgy scene?!
Offline
Yes, did you not see London Spy?
It was wonderful.
