Aw, gently, that is great! So happy for you.
I knew you had already met him a couple of times but that is a whole different story! Well done!

Have an awesome time, Lautrela! It's an AMAZING play! (I always get a tug of happiness in my tummy when I'm reminded of it)

I've loved Hamlet since I was little, but I felt like it was pretty understandable even if you didn't understand the words!

Re: The "Good News" thread

I'm very positively surprised how productive I managed to be today!

I did the laundry (which is a long process in itself), folded the laundry, made the bed... I went to the grocery store while the clothes were in the dryer... and tonight I did the most amazing thing of all.

I cooked. I cooked 2 different things at once! I cooked tomato sauce from scratch; for the Hello Kitty pasta my best friend gave me, to serve on Sunday evening for her... and I cooked french onion soup. For the first time in my life.

Okay. The thing is... I basically can't cook. My mother never taught me, and no one since have tried to teach me anything, even when I ask... (my boyfriend does try, but he's bad at explaining stuff, lol) and being dyscalculic I struggle to read a recipe.
Plus I'm clinically depressed etc. plus I have chronic pains so I pretty much skip cooking if I can... or I take the easiest options.  And my OCD messes it up for me too... I'm scared of making mistakes and cooking is a big mistake waiting to happen...

I'm pretty proud of myself! And I've got soup left for tomorrow too!

Re: The "Good News" thread

Thank you!

Oh, and I just reminded myself of something else that happened on New Years Eve... My best friend's fiance sat me down (he was pretty drunk, but he was sincere) and thanked me for being a big part of their life together and it meant a lot to him that she had me as a friend.

Long story short... I was in love with her for a lot of years. I never made a move though. I valued our friendship and I knew it wouldn't end well if anything happened (something I also recently confessed to her; to get the elephant out of the bloody room). And I know we are together a lot.
I had this fear that he was jealous or suspicious of my intent... and a funny remark he made a while ago really made me fear that.
I'm usually the one she contacts if there's a problem in their relationship... and I always try to help her the best she can; I try to see both sides and all...

I also got the chance to tell him that I'm happy that he was good for her, and that it meant a lot to me.

I am still considering using bits from Sherlock's Best Man Speech at their wedding though. heh.

Re: The "Good News" thread

That's nice of him to say that.  It's nice to know you're appreciated.  That would be cool if you used part of Sherlock's speech.

Re: The "Good News" thread

Today my boyfriend made me really happy.

We've been in a long distance relationship for 2,5 years now... and with my bad confidence I have been having my doubts and fears...
We both needed time, and I never have, and never will rush him but my head has a way of whispering doubts into my ears. I know he needed time to get over his last relationship... and to up-root his life isn't easy either. I mean he has a great family and friends and all that...

Today he told me that he has kept a little secret for me... he has recently started to really work towards our future, and him moving here. He's looking for work opportunities, and have even started learning a little Danish with the Danish woman who lives on his street.

Now... I just need to get a bigger flat, somehow... err. We can't really live in this flat both of us. It's literally a single, tiny room!

Re: The "Good News" thread

I do hope that works out for you.
Well I'm just about to go and phone Dad: today he reached his 83rd birthday, that's good news to me!
My daughter-in-law shares the birthday, but I don't think I'll phone Italy.

Re: The "Good News" thread

That is good news! Congrats on both of them!

And thanks, I do too... for a while I had this silly plan of not getting 'too involved' but yeah... I fell head over heals so he better not pull back on this.

Re: The "Good News" thread

I entered a competition on Twitter to win a drawing by Benedict that was included in a raffle with some other actors and actress's drawings and this morning I got a call saying I had won! Sadly not Benedict's (I was so hoping it was when they said I had won haha) but I won David Suchet's drawing of a moustache!

Re: The "Good News" thread

Thanks! It was cool to win something.

The Charity that ran it is pretty cool, they provide art workshops and projects for children in Africa.

The raffle was supposed to be before Christmas apparently but had to be pushed back so Benedict originally drew some Christmas related pics (which are lovely) and I think they're going to sell or auction off later in the year. They will also be running more raffles I think so will post details if Benedict's involved again.

Re: The "Good News" thread

Well done! Both for supporting the charity, and for winning! Congratulations!

I saw Benedict's and Sophie's contributions around Tumblr I think!

Re: The "Good News" thread

Thanks!

Benedict's was the "Is this a drawing?" one haha and Sophie's was the one with lots of arrows.
