    It's more than a day's growth presumably.
    I just think it must have been really uncomfortable for a longer period of time. Martin complained about his fake stash endlessly and he could actually sleep without it at least.

    The designer stubble look was fashionable back in the '80s  so can't have been too uncomfortable to wear day to day!

    I find it curious how Sherlock wears his coat without a suit jacket under in TLD. Is it because of the hot weather or him just not giving a damn?

    That was a long conversation about facial hair, lol.

    As for the jacket question, I think either of those reasons make sense.
