I will be out until shortly before the episode airs, but I wanted to take the chance and thank our moderators (and all disciplined members) for keeping this forum almost completely spoiler free. It could sometimes be forgotten in the heated arguments we sometimes have around here, but thanks to our mods (and our members) we have build an unbelievably considerate community. I have been (carefully) browsing the spoiler threads, and even there everybody is constantly trying not to ruin anything for anyone. I know some of our members have been at the screening, still I will go into tonight's episode without a clue of what to expect. Thank you all for making the extra effort to make sure everyone can enjoy tonight's episode without knowing anything they rather not know!
Also, as by tomorrow we will be once more in that strange limbo that is hiatus (or even the end of the show), idling away the hours in often passionate discussion, unable to get any new data to further back up our believes, where these things might stay unmentioned: I want you all to know that I truly enjoyed these last few weeks with all of you. It was really great to share the excitement, fear and sometimes even frustration with all of you and read what you had to say in return. I enjoyed the show even more because I could share it with you.
So to everybody on this forum:
Thank you !

Wonderful post, and I certainly agree!

Thank you Lola, and I would like to second everything you say! It has been fantastic to have a safe place where we can avoid major spoilers, and to endlessly discuss and anticipate! A big thank you to all of you!

I want to second this!
I am so happy I have this place, and the people in it!
If this forum wasn't this way; I'd be very 'homeless' since most of my communication happens online... I'm new to Tumblr but it had become a great coping mechanism... and if I didn't have this awesome place... well yeah.
Thank you everyone! And I look forward to sharing another hiatus with you!

Yay for all of us....and if only it was just a hiatus!

I live in hope! Who knows!

I'm trying to stop myself getting too upset.
But at the end of the day, nobody can take the four wonderful series and the special away from us.
I really see it the same as Amanda and Martin's separation....it just all seemed so sudden, which is why I think we are having difficulty adjusting.
I never wanted to be greedy, but 12+ 1 episodes isn't really that many...
I remember having a bit of a go at the Merlin fandom, demanding the show continued...but really the team had given 5 years of their lives to that show and there were only a certain number of story lines they could do.
I know we've had nearly 7 years, but not every year!
Plus, I really did want to see Sherlock and John growing old and especially if it was together.
But if I feel they've left it in the right place tonight, I like to think I can accept its end.

Yes, a huge Thank You to all forum members. All deserve a warm hug here. I'm not even here for a year, but it has been a great time.
In fact it should be taken for granted to not spoil anything. Like, uhm, it should be automatically in your blood, if you love Sherlock. Sadly apparently it is not granted. There are spoilers out there. Luckily this has been a safe place. Think about how amazing it is: Here are people from ALL around the world and everybody is this disciplined and share the same value to be careful and respectful. (If a minor thing happened, it wasn't on purpose, I am sure.)

If you're referring to the thing I think you are, I personally have accepted the apology and moved on.

No, sorry, I'm not referring to a special thing. I haven't read in all threads (for example setlock), so I don't know if something happened. But I got the feeling there might have been an incident from other vague forum posts... I hope it wasn't too bad.

I'm so grateful to have found and joined this forum and to have had the opportunity to discuss the great show that is Sherlock with all of you! Whether there are to be new episodes or TFP is to be the last I'm sure there will always be things for us to discuss.

Well I was thinking along those same lines.
It will actually be fun to watch right back from the beginning again...once we know how it all pans out.
Thing is: because we're in the fandom, we know all of the 'making of stuff'.
So we sort of know that certain editorial decisions were made, because they didn't know if they were going to get anymore series.
So possibly it doesn't totally flow as it might have, if things had been different.
But I really don't think we've suffered...
I think I might get teary watching right back from the beginning again...I really haven't done that for such a long time.
I don't know if it's a sense of innocence as such, as even John got quite a baptism of fire!

That's the amazing thing about this fandom, we can see a whole world in a drop of water and still find something new.
I feel like I still find things in some of the first episodes... especially now with S4... it's like you get new pieces to a puzzle you didn't know was there...
So in a way, if it ends... it's not really the end as such. (but yeah, it's natural for me to fear endings... so I guess I'll deal with it, when I know for sure)

I really am trying to be positive here!
The other thing and I don't know if other people are the same as me in this...
Because of Sherlock, I've seen other such great films/theatre/ TV...all from following the Sherlock family members in their other work.
I have been turned on to people like Andrew, Benedict and really Mark...who I was quite oblivious to before.

Sherlock caused my Benadiction; which has also given me so many great experiences and insights! Plus a trip to London to see him in Hamlet... a trip I probably wouldn't have even dared if not for that!
Online!
Oh yes, I meant to say.
The biggest impact on my life has been my twice yearly trips to London.
I'm into my 5th year of doing these now.
I hope they can continue

I hope to go back, in fact... I know I will return sometime! And see some more Sherlock places.
I was pleased to see they used some of my 'safe spots' in London for this season... I had such a smile on my face; even from seeing it used in Setlock!

I think I will be quite emotional, going to, for instance, Speedy's in future...
But there will always be the Sherlock Holmes museum and the Sherlock Holmes statute, on Baker Street.

If it's over... that is. I know what you mean!
I was pretty emotional visiting those places in 2015 even! And I skipped going to Bart's for fear of a breakdown

I've never actually been.
My sis has different connections to it, as that's where she had her cancer treatment.
Actually, I was down in October and I'm sure the 'endgame' rumours had already started..
So I'm trying to think if I got a bit emotional then.
But of course, I at least knew we still had a new series to look forward to.
I honestly could wait any length of time, if I knew we were even getting a one off.
But the not knowing is worse!
