hey mattlocked-- sometimes your gif of sherlock and john works and sometimes not. I use chrome browser-- I dunno what's the matter with it. But I love that gif!! especially sherlock's face when he first sees John by the police car.
Thanks for the links for parades end!! Not fair for them to show on HBO. If the dvd comes out in USA I'll get them frm Netflix. That's what I did for the TUDORS. And then earlier this year they showed TUDORS on BBCA!! squeee, I love that channel, and we all know why, don't we?
My new avatar is my cat. I made it when Jeremy Brett's SH eps were re running on PBS. Cat of the Baskervilles, and She's looking at a fish named Henry. I just couldn't resist posting it here. G'nite, all!!

Do you still have Henry? Only your cat seems a bit...predatory! Henry can't really hide in a corner can he. Lol. All your cat needs is some chips and there's a nice supper.

Some things aren't available in Germany, either. Or sometimes not in original language.
I order from amazon.co.uk then. I think it's possible also from the US, of course there are some shipping costs and you need a credit card I think....
Europe and America use two different DVD formats, so the DVDs are not interchangeable back and forth across the pond, at least this was true last time I heard. Amazon in the US offers free shipping on a lot (most?) things if you spend $25 or more at one time, which is nice. And yes, definitely a credit card is necessary.
And we get British things really late here, in our format. It has to show on American TV before they'll release the American DVDs, alas, and all of that moves at the speed of a glacier. Anyway, the DVDs will be available in the UK (and in that European format) way before we can get anything we can watch here.

We can buy DVD players here which play our AND your region DVDs. Before it was not possible to watch US DVDs as far as I know.
Wonder if they don't offer it the other way round..?

Yes, I think you're right-- there are DVD players that will play either format, but I imagine very few Americans own one of those.

DAVINA-- NO, Henry died ages ago. My cat was PROTECTING Sir Henry, I'll have you know.
DVD region free 0 or ALL are the ONLY players that will play all country's dvds on them. They aren't marked with a flag that sets them to regions 1 - 6. Mine is Region 1, for USA, Canada, Bermuda, US territiories. Would you like me to list the regions here for you? It's on wikipedia.

And how did Sir Henry die? Was the cat a suspect?
Offline
Hmmmm... No, I think Sherlock deduced that it was that evil Dr Stapleton that did it. He died too, in the quicksand on Dartmoor.

Hmm! Quicksand on Dartmoor...an interesting idea. Are you sure the cat didn't frame him?

what cat? there was a cat? I didn't see no cat.

Morning all! My son has his driving test today. Keep your fingers crossed for him please (or press your thumbs together or whatever you do for good luck where you are from).
Offline
Pressing thumbs. My daughter will have to do the same in some weeks time.

I will be crossing fingers, pressing thumbs, crossing toes etc. for him and her!

Please let us know how he does! There's nothing like the parental terror of having a teenager get behind the wheel all by himself, is there. Davina, you said you were getting sick a couple of days ago-- hope you're all right now.

Good morning and good luck to him!
I'm sort of down because I have to go back to work tonight after having two days off. Only three nights on and then a weekend, but on that first night it's always hard to drag myself in at 2300.

I'm fine now. Still waiting to hear how he has done though. He's nearly 21 so long overdue for learning to drive!

OMG Ours all get their license 18!
I never found it scary, but then I taught them, lol.

Yay! He passed first time with only 3 minors! Phew! What a relief! Lots of exclamation marks....lol. He was away pretty much for a whole year in New Zealand and Canada and Tenerife so didn't fit it in. Then they weren't allowed to take a car for the first year at Uni (!?!). He's just a bit chuffed.

I was 18 (thanks, mom) but most Americans get theirs at 16 which is...kind of scary, actually.
And yay! Congrats to him, Davina!
