Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

Yes I think you kind of have to decide whether or not you going, purely on the information you have.
I would kind of assume guests are not going to attend, if they aren't advertised...then it's just a bonus if they do attend.
I appreciate it's more difficult, the further you are travelling...but think of the people who came from all over the world to see Benedict in Frankenstein.
I could virtually guarantee some of them missed out, when he fell sick.
These are just the chances you have to take...and surely it's worse when they ARE supposed to be there!

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

I think the issue is which level of ticket to get.  The different levels give different amounts of access to talks, photoshoot queueing, etc.  For instance, it looks like the standard ticket only gives you an unreserved ticket for a livestream of talks, whereas with a higher level you can actually watch the talks live.  That would be quite a difference for me.   And if somebody particularly wanted to see Benedict, for instance, they might be prepared to pay for a higher level ticket, but not if he wasn't going.   All the tickets are pretty expensive, so it's a big gamble!  It's a shame it isn't made easier for fans - for instance an option to upgrade or downgrade when all the guests are announced.
Good luck, Tonnaree!

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

Having said that, these things must be difficult to organise and they couldn't take the risk of claiming people were going to be there only for them not to turn up.

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

There was a chance to upgrade last year, I suppose there was one for this year as well.
Not sure about downgrading though.
But...yes, I see your points.

Don't worry, tonnaree, Sue and Steven being the only ones announced is normal, especially as it's only been what, a few weeks now? The next guests should be announced prettu quickly, I imagine.

Aren't all conventions dear?
I have no idea, as I've never attended one!

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

From what's been said about other conventions, before the new millenium that is, they were less expensive.
Now, however...

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

The US one looks more expensive to me, but I haven't looked at the details - it might be better value.

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

The basic ticket is only a little more than I pay for Dragon Con.  But gives you no access to the guests.
No way in hell I could afford the VIP experience unless I won the lottery.
What I'm aiming for if I can is a Gold Level Ticket.

http://www.sherlockedusa.com/index.php/tickets

  • Entry for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • All Individual Guests Autographs
  • All Individual Guest Photo Shoots  (does not include prop/set/group photos unless listed)
  • All Talks in main hall
  • Reserved Gold Seat in main hall behind VIPs
  • Gold Priority in Queues for Autos & Photos
  • 1 x Photo Shoot on screen-used 221b Living Room Set
  • 1 x Friday Night Party Ticket
  • 1 x Saturday Night Party Ticket
  • 1 x Exclusive Sherlock Print (unsigned)
  • Exclusive Sherlocked USA Button and Lanyard

The key things there for me being

  • All Individual Guests Autographs
  • All Individual Guest Photo Shoots

Plus, knowing I would have decent seats for the live talks.

$595 is a lot of money for something like this but I would consider it a once in a lifetime thing.

Good news. So it seems everyone will be there but Benedict and Martin?

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

Apart from missing Benedict and Martin, it looks like a really good lineup.  I'm envious of those who are going to the talks.  Can't say I'm too impressed with the overpriced teddy bear (although, actually the mini coat is kind of cute).

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

I agree, the bear is overpriced. I am well aware this is purely marketing and business but I cannot not buy it. Silly, I know.

Now, I wonder. Have only attendees received a pre-order autographs possibility or everyone who has subscribed to the newsletter?

Re: Sherlocked - The Official Sherlock Convention

@Liberty when looking in the FAQ under 'Guests' they say that they expect 10-12 guests, and more could be added if the tickets sell well. So yes, 15 guests is quite a decent line up indeed!

Totally with you on the bear.  If I get to go to the US convention I hope they have some left!

And there are now 21 guests... ! (Beryl Vertue, D.I. Carter, Claire Pritchard-Jones and Sarah Arthur. The abominable bride has cancelled because she's just given birth)
Still no Benedict, but let's not lose hope!
