Re: sherlock series 4 (spoilers inside)

Here is an article about series 4. And it is like a déjà-vu. After series 2 they hinted at a Reichenbach clue nobody noticed. I have been waiting until this very day to learn what clue that was. And now it is about clues regarding Sherlock's future that are "blindingly obvious?" I hope this time we do not have keep searching until we are old and grey.

Somehow that article does not leave me overly excited. I mean, I am very excited about S4 already but the article does not really ignite more. I guess I have heard stuff like that too often.

Re: sherlock series 4 (spoilers inside)

Well, I hope they tell us afterwards what was "blindingly obvious".  I can think of plenty of themes and ideas that seem to be hinted at for S4, but nothing that's staring me in the face.

I suppose it's a good point, though, that whatever they do will be accessible to the casual viewer.  It's not going to need some complicated thesis to explain it.  (However, I'd argue that there ARE fairytale references in TRF, so it's not such a wild idea to speculate about that).

Re: sherlock series 4 (spoilers inside)

The one thing that stares me in the face, and I think would also do so for the casual viewer, is "Redbeard". There is something traumatic in Sherlock's past, and it seems it's now finally catching up to him.

Re: sherlock series 4 (spoilers inside)

So if I understand Mark correctly, what will happen to Sherlock is blindingly obvious but has been overlooked by many (who concentrate on unrelated issues). Hm. This would mean it cannot be Moriarty which probably has been the most discussed point among casual viewers. And it cannot be Mary/the baby/the Watson marriage either because I think this may be the second most discussed point among casual viewers.

So I would opt for Sherlock and his personal development. The talk about the show being about a detective and not about the cases makes me believe that Sherlock himself is the Case. His past, his emotional/sexual issues, his demons. I think they will be in the centre of S4.
