Yes, sure.

In my opinion they already had an adventure together in TSOT (where Mary remebered the number of Sholto´s room and Sherlock didn´t), in HLV (sort of ) and in TAB (where Mary even solved Sherlock´s case instead of him).... I don´t see the rationale for her having even more and more adventures together with him....

Little help to John and Sherlock from time to time, OK... but solving cases instead of them, beating the baddies instead of them, outsmarting Mycroft.. why?

Not that I like this one bit, but for a lot of viewers this seems to have worked. Or at least it was one of the things which inspired lots of discussion within the fandom. Mofftiss might just stick with this a little longer because let's face it, this is one of the things which has kept the fandom alive after S3/TAB. And I'm not saying fandom would have fallen into a deep slumber after S3 without the whole Mary drama, but Mofftiss might just like the fact that the fandom is alive and kicking also because of Mary.

But Solar, that is exactly what I'm just not sure about. Did it work for such a great part of the viewers? I find it very difficult to make out numbers. Main sources for fannish exchange are various tumblrs (where you tend to read the ones you mostly agree with, because, come on, no johnlocker here deliberately reads johnlockary or warstan tumblr, do we? Because shudder....) and this forum where the discussion is , well, stuck to say the least. And I simply have a feeling that, yes, there are theesome appreciation sides but not that many? Heck, I don't know....

Re: The comprehensive Johnlock guide (Johnlockers only)

mrshouse, I'd say none uf us knows either way. I tend to come across blog posts on tumblr on a regular basis of people who do indeed appreciate Mary though. Nevertheless, just like you I don't have any numbers of course. None of us has. Johnlockers do tend to be more active in terms of articulating their opinions and writing metas, I'm sure we all agree on that. Then again, it's more or less the same Johnlockers all the time... I have no idea how big this group of Johnlockers is on, let's say, tumblr, and of course a lot of fans follow them without posting anything themselves.
Another thing we don't know: how much does this actually influence Mofftiss in their decisions? They are writers and it's their show, and I'd say that if they feel that the character of Mary works great for the show, then why shouldn't they stick with her (in whatever form and to whatever extent) ?

Yes, it´s their full right - but it would be fair of them to change the name of the show to "Sherlock and Mary" or "Mary" and to make it clear that the show is not being based on ACD´s work anymore....

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Re: The comprehensive Johnlock guide (Johnlockers only)

On another note - I just found this interesting older quote by Benedict. It tells us something about the way he sees the Sherlock/John relationship as well:

There are distinct traces of Holmes and Watson to the relationship between Assange and Domscheit-Berg, he suggests. “There’s an element of seduction, intimacy, and then rejection. They are almost like lovers.

Aw....
It's interesting that both him and Martin cannot fully avoid those comparisons and the lovely little word "love"...
It's all platonic, of course.

So glad to hear that!

And now everybody from this thread: go and spread Johnlock over at the Secret Santa Fic Exchange 2016.

Oh mrshouse.
I'm not angry.
I'm just dissaponted.

However, although I would never ever ban one so loyal as you, there will be one demerit placed on your chart.
As penance you must watch at least 2 episodes of TJLC Explained and think about what you've done.
