Wow, that's great! Have you watched it on TV before?

I did
And that helps, though I like the books better now, the pictures in the show were great, but in the books (at least up to now....) it's not mainly sex and beheadings....

Eventually everyone will support Johnlock.

Oh War and Peace was in our school program for 10th grade. It's definitely a worthy novel, few people could read the whole thing though

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

I'm reading Book One of the 'Neapolitan Novels', "My Brilliant Friend" by Elena Ferrante.
She's been called the Italian Charles Dickens and is much acclaimed right now.  Great stuff!  I'm having a hard time putting it down. I think there are four books all together which follow the lives of two friends.  I know I'll read them all.

And I said "dangerous" and here you are.

You. It's always you. John Watson, you keep me right.

Stories of Your Life and Others by ted chiang
https://www.amazon.com/Stories-Your-Life-Others-Chiang/dp/1101972122/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472568179&sr=8-1&keywords=story+of+your+life+ted+chiang

Mr. Chiang has been around for a bit but I only discovered him recently when I found out the upcoming movie "Arrival" with Amy Adams is based on one of his stories.  So far I'm finding his writing fascinating. It seems he's considered one of the greatest science fiction writers of his generation.
Here is one you can read online..  If you like it I would highly recommend this book.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

Wow. I finished reading the one you linked, tonnaree, and searched the Internet for more. You can find some more short stories by Chiang online. Like
"Exhale"

http://www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/exhalation/

(Does the link work?)

He is really great!

I love reading "old" stories by Bradbury, Asimov, Heinlein etc, and I feel like Chiang's work is equal to theirs.

I agree!  So glad you liked it.  After reading that one I just went ahead and bought his collection for my Kindle.   :-)

Side Note:  I got to meet Bradbury years ago at a convention.  What a lovely man.  His stories are timeless.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

Woohoo!
I finished the lovely Anne of Green Gables.
I'm currently reading my first ever graphic novel:  Houdini.
So far ACD, Holmes and Watson have all been featured!

EDIT: I guess I should credit the authors/illustrators:  Haberlin, Monsanto and Phillips.

Anyhow.
Yes, silly ACD was a Spiritualist and Harry used to take the p- - s out of him, because of it!

Aw! A Canadian classic! I remember my mum read it to me when I was a kid. A lot of fun,but it made me cry, too. One of these days I will have to read it again.

I'm reading Wuthering Heights for one of my classes. I'm not sure yet if I like it.

I read it for my English 'O' level.
I loved it, but I'll be interested to hear what you think of the ending.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

I loved it too, but I can very much understand why people might not.  It's a very odd story, I think, and not really the classic romance that it's purported to be.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

I'm  a bit surprised by that.  I would have thought it displayed fairly classic romantic tropes...but then, so not my area!
