Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

Divorce isn't exactly exciting.

Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

But nobody is seriously considering it to happen on the show, that would be a surprise and hence more interesting.

Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

Okay.
So how are people seriously considering Mary's departure will occur...presuming they think she will leave?

I don't know about people and seriously, different ideas about her departure have been posted on this thread. Repeatedly.

Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

I suppose for people who see her as a villain, having her go out as a hero would be more interesting (and vice versa).  On the other hand, it's satisfying to have suspicions confirmed so maybe better the other way round?   But I do kind of agree about the divorce - it's so mundane, and (presuming something exciting is going to happen in between), would be a nice bookend to the more mundane beginning.  The last thing we'd expect.

Except we're all expecting it now. Ha!

Damn. Now they need to rewrite and reshoot S4. ;-)

Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

The way I see it, there are only two heroes on the show, and those are Sherlock and John. I don't need a third hero, and if I needed one it certainly wouldn't be Mary. So in whatever way she will leave the show (and I'm not even convinced she will leave in S4), may it be by death or divorce or whatever, I'm hoping they won't make this into anything heroic.

Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

Because some people may want to forgive her for shooting Sherlock.

Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

There are other ways of forgiveness. They don't have to turn her from basically not admitting to anything into a hero.

Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

Saying sorry afterwards and asking for forgiveness would be a good start, I'd say.

Isn't saying sorry at the time even better?

Re: Mary – the subject of discussion

Apologies should mean something. If (just after shooting) you apologize to someone for shooting them, and then threaten them in the hospital, and then track them down while equipped with a gun and silencer (so nobody hears you shooting them a second time) --one might be tempted to believe that the "apology" is a false one, and not to be taken seriously.

But that's so long ago now and they've all moved on.
The reconciliation is done.
