Since the plans sound quite definite and not just rumours, I am giving this a thread of its own:
Sounds very promising.

Very exciting!

That sounds awesome

It will be a "proper" film, won't it? Not just a short version?

Never heard of it, but sounds brilliant.

Yes, I think it will be a feature film of regular length, gently.

Just read an article about it. Sounds interesting.
I spend the last year reading almost nothing but books and information material about the German resistance during the Nazi regime. We Germans have it in school of course but it's school. I always wanted to take the time going deep into detail and not just hearing about Stauffenberg and 20.July 1944. Although I read a very good Stauffenberg biography.
So topics like that are very close to my heart. I hope he is able to make that film.

Me, too.

Anyone here read the book or seen the O'Toole movie?
Online!
Oh it's Peter O'Toole?I am interested...
No as I said, never ever heard of it before.

I did not see the movie but I am a big fan of Peter and know that he loved the book and the film.

Cool and likewise.

I haven't heard of it before but it sounds quite interesting - better than the impression the title gave me, if I'm being honest, though that could be because I didn't know the context.

*giggle* Just hearing the title you might think it was soft core porn.

I actually looked up 'rogue' and it really is an unpleasant word.
But I kind of hope it refers to the dictator!

Well, there will be Disney Star Wars film called Rogue one or something like that and Han Solo was definitely rogue!
I like the project, but don't get excited yet: there have been so many announcements that seemed solid the past two years and in the end they failed to materialize. They don't have the script yet, and without a good script even a wonderful source material doesn't guarantee a good film.

That is true. I remember four years ago or so hearing that there was going to be a live action film adaptation of Cowboy Bebop and it never got made (but that might not be the best example since it might not have turned out to be that good, anyway).

That sounds very interesting - and it puts a new book on my "to read"- list. All the books I read because of Benedict ...
Online!
Sadly, I've never managed to read any of them.
I held off on Atonement for years and in the end watched the film, so still haven't read the book.
Bought 12 Years A Slave, but now having seen the film I don't want to read the book- too harrowing!
I bought that explorer one, that Benedict never made the film for in the end, though I still fancy the book.

I preferred the book of Atonement to the film (I'd read it when it came out). It's very much a book where you're seeing things through a certain point of view, and I think that often works better on the page than on film. On film, you're actually seeing it rather than having it described to you.
I really enjoyed To the Ends of the Earth!
