I think it’s sad to see people starting to play the blame game. If some fans feel alienated, they have put it upon themselves. I support Johnlock, but I don’t feel alienated in the slightest. I do not view Moftiss as robots who are supposed to be able to deal with absolutely everything from fans and whom are not allowed to feel human emotions like frustration and irritation. To me, I have not seen anything from them where they have treated their fans bad (maybe there are tweets I don’t know about, but certainly not from that interview).
Yes, the show has been open to interpretation. And they lie a lot. And they have never stated that they have any problems with people interpreting their show as they see fit. They only thing they keep saying is – it will not happen in their show. That is all. And they’ve consistently said that for years. This is not new or shocking.
And just as some can easily interpret what we have in the show so far as Johnlock, just as many have easily interpreted as pure friendship. So I find it odd when I read on Tumblr people claiming that TAB doesn’t make sense unless you view it through a Johnlock lense. I don’t get that. I don’t view TAB through a Johnlock sense, and it makes perfect sense to me. In fact, when watching the episode for the first time, trying to find Johnlock, I struggled to find anything.
So I don’t think Moftiss have shown us one thing and told us something different. They have showed us something that can be open to interpretation, and then told us what interpretation will not happen.
All this anger, bitterness and ridicule directed towards Mofitss is what makes me sad. Much more sad than Johnlock not happening. I just hope Mofitss doesn’t get to read any of it, they don’t deserve it. And I think some fans need to get some perspective . It’s a tv show. That’s all it is. It’s not the end of the world, it’s not an attack against fans, it’s not a let-down to the gay community. It’s a tv show.

Fans are not some biorobots either, they are people with feelings too. If somebody has been constatly leading them on and lying to them, they naturally will be frustrated for a while, that can´t be helped.
I know it´s popular to lay all the blame on fans, to dismiss them for liking the show in the first place (and you would think popularity of your show is desirable for the authors) - but in this case, the crux of the problem really lies with Mofftiss and their approach to their audience, their advertising the show through lies, etc.

Well, what a garbled mistranslated video interview - oops.

But they haven't been led on. See what I wrote above about different interpretations.
Blame is very little constructive, no matter which way it goes. Perspective I feel is better.

This is just sad. I hope this forum won't degenerate into bashing and making fun of the writers. Come on, guys, we are better than this.

No bashing here. I stated my opinion above, but won´t dwell on the subject for too long or make it something bigger than it really is.
Still, it really is not making fun of the writers if you just post one of their older interviews, IMHO.

You know very well it has all to do with the tone and intention, not just the content.
I expected this type of thing from Tumblr, I didn't expect to see it done here.

I agree, nakahara. No bashing here. IMO Mark's tweet was more than questionable. I am willing to go on from this but one should be able to state one's opinion as long as it is done in a reasonable and factual way. The writers are not above criticism.

Let's call down everybody. There is no need to make up a fight where there is none.

I agree, SusiGo. But this was not in a factual and critical way - it was done with a mockery tone. That is what I reacted to, and what I hope we can stay above on this board.

I won´t apologise because I believe that the "mockery" you object about was spot on in this case.

It wasn't just you, nakahara.
Anyway, I can't dictate what and how people write on this board. I had just hoped it wouldn't come to this, not here. Clearly, I was wrong.

I believe we are very, very mild here in comparison with Tumblr.

Everything is mild compared to Tumblr.
I just hope we can keep this constructive, as we mostly do on this forum. I would be sad to see this turn into Tumblr-light. ;)

Just one personal remark since I am on tumblr quite a lot: It is true that there is a lot of aggression going on, not just where the show is concerned, but with regard to many subjects. People have been hurt and left tumblr for all sorts of reasons. But this is only side of the coin. The other is the beautiful fan art, the humour, and the extremely clever discussions and analyses going on there. I have learned a lot about story-writing and film-making just from reading engaging with them.

It is hard not to react with humour at the irony though.
MG complains about fans trivializing gay representation by claiming the heavily hinted homosexual Sherlock they wrote into all eleven episodes...was a just a joke.

Oh, absolutely! I check Tumblr every day and greatly enjoy a lot of the content. I wouldn't be there if it was all horrible.
A lot of dedicated fans are on Tumblr. Which is mostly a great thing. But sometimes the dedication goes too far, when we build up expectations that turns into anger towards the people who failed to live up to them.
