The flat is often empty(and for sale) during series.
But there have been residents there during filming and they allow access to the door and hallway
So awesome!
I really hope some of these people are Sherlock fans so that all the glory of the situation doesn't go unappreciated!

I think one set were...but maybe I have that wrong.

So, remember the script kerfuffle a while back? When Amanda posted a pic of the script, and fans enhanced it to read the words through the front page?
Well that's happened again-- only this time, it was a pap photo of Ben holding his script during the 4am shoot last night. Quite a lot of the writing -- entire sentences and scene directions, in fact -- are legible.
Damn! Haven't seen that. Is it on tumblr?
Yeah, that's where I saw it. It's quite spoilery re: Culverton, if you want to avoid plot details.

I am heavily debating with myself whether or not I want to read it... I am curious that's for sure!!

I read it and it tells me nothing.

I've read it and I'll put this in spoilers as I have a slightly different interpretation of it ...
My eyesight isn't so good, so I could be wrong.I read the bit where the poster has written as "raising the" as "talking to camera"

Debating here too.
I think I won't read it. Some suspence should remain, after all. Setlock pictures are more spoilers already than I've ever had.

I'm wondering if it needs a separate thread to discuss it then ... I suppose it's technically Setlock, but it's a bit more than we're meant to see? I'd like to discuss it but don't want to talk about it here if people don't want to see it .

Speaking of, this setlock today is absolutely crazy. There's, what, like... 500 people watching? They've been there at least 6 hours waiting. And there are soooooooooooo many photos and videos and Periscope recordings. I'm having a field day just sitting on Twitter and watching the #setlock tag, and the main cast haven't even shown up yet! (Except mofftis just now) :D

Is this at North Gower St?

I wonder if they're setting it in winter if they're filming so late, or if it's meant to be night-time, or some other reason (like the streets being quieter?).

They will have had all day to set up, with it being Sunday.

It's a rain scene, they have artificial rain effects and an orange ambiant light focused on the door.
Also, Ben showed up. Crowd cheered. Crowd got told off by security guy, lol.

We had several scenes in front of 221B taking place in the dark in the past... ASiP, TEH for example, so it wouldn't be something new. And well, considering the fact that S4 is supposed to be devastating, it might add to the atmosphere to have a couple of scenes taking place at night/in the dark. Wasn't the tunnel scene shot at night, too?

But why film at dusk? (Showing my ignorance of film-making here).
Looks like Sian is there (haven't seen a picture, but somebody tweeted that she was).
Edit: crossposted with you Solar - I was wondering about dusk as the light is so variable, but I suppose you're right that it could be a nighttime scene and they are just setting it up at dusk.

They won't keep the actors/staff any later than they need to.

@Solar, yes. That car from the tunnel scene is on-set at the moment, btw.
Here's what the rain effect looks like
