This would be an incredibly negative presentation by Mark and Steven.
Sherlock doesn't like relationships because they are messy and distracting.
The nearest we've seen him in a relationship is with Irene...
Although I guess I mean attraction, not a relationship.

If we consider that there's not a story told about representing gay or bi attraction and coming out but simply about telling a romantic love story with life commitment ALBEIT their sex I think it adds up nicely. Especially with Ben and Martin and their chemistry. It's a gift found by accident.

The chemistry was as a result of a casting process.
But I doubt they were casting for a romantic couple.

That doesn't contradict what I said, does it? It was a gift.
And if the Mofftiss are an intelligent lot they go back concentrating on that strength of the show instead of distracting from it.
And actually: we cannot know what they casted for....

Although we have been give many details about it:
Benedict was the only choice of both Mark and Steven.
Martin had a dreadful first audition, but they called him back to give him a second chance.
It was only when Benedict and Martin read together that the decision was made: not only was Martin good, he made Benedict better.
After Martin's audition, Benedict told Mark and Steven that he knew it was not his decision, but his opinion was that Martin was the best candidate.
They replied that they knew and had already decided that!

Yes. I know those tidbits. What does that say about the long-term -plan?

This doesn't, but plenty of following interviews do.

No, I meant in the show.
I didn't allude to being told by the makers what to think.

They never tell us what to think.
They do, however, make their vision clear.

Great! We don't need S4 then! We just listen to what they want to tell us through it!

Not at all, plenty of more adventures ahead, with our wonderful lead team.

I actually agree on that.
With our lead DUO...

Of course, that's what it's all about.

Yeah.

Of course we need S4!
If they told us that John and Sherlock would become lovers, would we not need the show because we know what's going to happen? Or if they told us they would always be friends, would it not be worth watching? To be honest, even if I'd read the scripts I'd still want to see the thing on screen!

This!

Of course.
But I don't know if people may not be able to get really excited until S5.

I never thought of this. But doubt it, too.
At the very least, Benedict and Martin wouldn't have known about it, I suppose,
because the interviews and basically everything during the first series don't sound like it.
There seems to be nothing alike to a "Snape secret", you know what I mean - nothing like "I know sth about them that you fans don't know". It just doesn't feel like there is much thought about romance in the very beginning. It took off only later... or, well, that is how I perceived it.
I just think, if they had casted for romance, they would have told Benedict and Martin, and these two would have answered or spoken a bit differently in interviews.
I think it's a good point :-)
