Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I thought it was just that the "correct" route was to send him to prison  - the previous unwanted option (the dangerous mission) became the preferred option.  But it's hard to believe that Mycroft would go to that effort to send him to certain death, even he was still at risk in prison.  And his comment about the country needing Sherlock Holmes suggest that he wouldn't do that.  Is it possible that the mission at the end of HLV isn't a death mission after all?

Lady Smallwood said that the alternative (to prison) was hardly merciful, so it sounds like that was something awful too - but then the death mission is clearly worse than prison?  But the government wanted him to go on a death mission in the first place, didn't they so were happy to lose him?  At least, so Mycroft said.   Maybe Sherlock thinks it's a death mission, but it never was.   And the alternative can't be sending him on a death mission and calling him back, because that would be merciful.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Well I don't think the mission was guaranteed death just likely, but if anyone was able to survive it would be Sherlock.
But no it would have to seem a death mission, otherwise why Lady Smallwood's comment about it being no mercy and why bring him back at all?!
No I think the government did have this death mission in the pipeline and maybe thought Sherlock would be the only one capable of completing it(as in getting info back to them) before he was wiped out.
I guess this could all have something to do with Mary...but I just do not think they will go down the villain route with her.
I mean I think she was a villain in the past, but not now.
I do think she could have worked for Jim.
Remember how the team said: Sherlock works out she's working for Mycroft, at least that seems the obvious solution to him.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Well we are at the point in the story where the mate goes to the miracle man for the miracle pill .
So yea probably Mycroft and John.
TAB did seem to imply it was an inside job.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Just saw this as I was going to bed last night and only just remembered what I wanted to say!
It would be lovely if Mary had set up the 'Miss me' thing, as an apology to Sherlock...
Not that I think she needs to apologise.
But maybe it was big brother.

I think she does have a lot of things to apologise for.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

It's a sad thought that presumably that mission still has to be completed by somebody - maybe an unknown agent who will die instead of Sherlock.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

@Solar: Yes, I do indeed. And since series 4 is about consequences, I have a hunch that her deeds will finally catch up with her.

If they know that the supposed mission is soo deadly, NOT sending anyone on it should be an option too.

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

New actor in sight, probably involved in a Morocco sequence:

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I think they are referring to the beginning of April. Lots of military around the set in Portland House in Cardiff. We know there was an actor who is playing an ambassador, have forgotten the name though.

Yes, you are right.
I have almost forgotten Portland House. But that seems to be it.

Do you think Mary offers to go instead of Sherlock, or does she get sent?
