Not to be off-topic, just had a brief 'Ooh!' moment, reading that last sentence of KP's... I kept seeing little mentions of that show when it first started, and sounded so neat.... so they did a good job with it?
Hi Russell. 'Vicious' is really funny - perhaps silly at times - but it's quintessential British comedy. Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi as Freddie and Stuart are simply fabulous as two old "queens" who have been together for many years. McKellen and Jacobi pretty much 'make' the show with their pitch-perfect comedic timing; although the supporting cast is nothing to sneeze at either. I love the way Freddie and Stuart viciously bicker and snipe at each other but underneath you know that they truly love each other. It's as outrageous as that other wonderful Brit show "Absolutely Fabulous" and for me, just as much fun. Hope you get a chance to see it sometime. Here are some good snippets on YouTube:
Ok, now back to the Hollow Crown

I still haven't had a chance to watch this season of Hollow Crown properly, just bits and pieces, but I am looking forward to a day when I can sit and watch it through without distraction.
Anyway, I was a bit worried I'd have trouble following what was going on, or getting the most out of the dialogue, so I had a look at Spark Notes. You can read a side-by-side translation of the original play into modern English. Thought I would post the link here in case others find it just as useful as I have.

I use the on-line Sparks notes now, to work out how many chapters there are in the E books I read!

Oh, that last one was the bit that made me giggle inappropriately! So much a mix of Tim Canterbury 'doing the look to camera' combined with Ben Wyatt from Parks and Recreation!
And I did order the previous series of The Hollow Crown and have so far watched the first two, and I'm still getting it. But I'm definitely not a Shakespeare convert, because I watched Russell T Grant's A Midsummer Night's Dream over the Bank Holiday and was sitting there nodding and saying, "Yep, there's the Shakespeare I know and still don't get."

I LOVED the Midsummer Night's Dream!

Cool... thanks. Yeah, I heard all about the premise, plus those two guys? Sounded great, just wondered how good it turned out. Oi... another one to add to the list, then. Ack... and those gifs!
