I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

There is a picture of Ben outside wearing his track suit and flip flops.
What kind of setting needs him barefoot? One that also involves a hospital gown? He wouldn't climb barefoot into another patient's (baby Watson's?) hospital bed, right?

Though they could both be in hospital.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I've just seen somebody post a video of Toby on set and it looks as if he's wearing a tie - so unlikely to be doctor working in the hospital in that scene (they don't tend to wear ties because of the infection risk)?

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I think a doctor doing the rounds could possibly wear a tie...but he could be many other things, of course!

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

He could be in charge of the hospital. No risk to spread infection by working with actual patients this way

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Usually there are separate managers running hospitals (rather than clinicians), I think.  And of course he could be a doctor but not be working in that scene, or could be visiting, could be a GP, could think the tie thing is a load of nonsense, etc.  Or maybe it's just what Toby was wearing anyway, and he was getting changed on set!

(I also saw a post saying he was wearing suspenders.  Perhaps he's Uncle Rudy?).

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Maybe he has no connection to the hospital whatsoever. Remember the deleted scene with CAM at Sherlock's side in HLV...?

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Solar, you took the words right out of my mouth and you've only just reminded me of them!
I was brushing my teeth, before going to bed last night and suddenly thought...remember the deleted scene!
Couldn't wait to get back on here this morning, to talk about it- but of course then forgot all about it!
It was such a brilliant scene, maybe they are going to use it with a new villain, instead.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Yes, I'm just trying to fit it to Culverton Smith because I like the idea, so wondering if Toby is a doctor.  The Dyihg Detective would also include a bedside (not necessarily hospital) scene.  But Gedgrave could just be for a fun reference, rather than a sign that they're doing that particular story.

I suppose in there was as similar scene to the CAM scene, but it was Culverton Smith, the roles would be reversed. with Sherlock faking the disease and manipulating him?  Moftiss do love characters dying/almost dying, and the story would be perfect for that.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

You know what my first thought was? Flashback to TEH and before, Sherlock being interrogated by a Serbian soldier. If it was just "interrogation guard" OR an actor with Bosnian roots (I know, Bosnia and Serbia are not the same but still) but the one being played by the other … coincidence and all that.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

LOL, if the story does have elements of "The Dying Detective" we may get to hear something like this:

"I fear there is no alternative, Watson.  The room does not lend itself
to concealment, which is as well, as it is the less likely to arouse
suspicion.  But just there, Watson, I fancy that it could be done."
Suddenly he sat up with a rigid intentness upon his haggard face.
"There are the wheels, Watson.  Quick, man, if you love me! And don't
budge, whatever happens--whatever happens, do you hear?  Don't speak!
Don't move!  Just listen with all your ears."  Then in an instant his
sudden access of strength departed, and his masterful, purposeful talk
droned away into the low, vague murmurings of a semi-delirious man.

If Sherlock is feigning a serious illness and John doesn't know it, we may finally get to see some serious hospital bedside angst.  .  Of course I suppose any angst could be about the baby; but we just don't know, do we....

And I said "dangerous" and here you are.

You. It's always you. John Watson, you keep me right.
