What a terrible thought. I did not have much time to post yesterday but here are some thoughts:

They only ever let us see things we are allowed to see, i.e. things that are not very important or connected with any rug pulls. Just think of TAB when they shot the living-room deduction in the street. In the end it did not really give away anything important. The modern scene in the cemetery was not meant to observed, I think, and we only got a glimpse of Martin and Amanda, no sighting of Benedict, Rupert, and Mark at all.

Therefore I think that the market scenes are part of the show - no shooting fake scenes a whole day, far too expensive - but not representative of what we are going to see. It could be in some character's mind, for example.

Right, S4 starts with Sherlock's worst nightmare this time.

Therefore I think that the market scenes are part of the show - no shooting fake scenes a whole day, far too expensive - but not representative of what we are going to see. It could be in some character's mind, for example.

And let us not forget this: They knew full well that all of yesterday's shooting was going to be all over the media. The majority of viewers probably think that Mary is forgiven, that there will be a family and a baby and three friends solving crimes together. Which is exactly what they showed us yesterday. And it is the majority of viewers they have to surprise and shock, not a group of enthusiasts dissecting every single moment and line for years as we do.

In short, these scenes may be used in a trailer, as they did with TAB. But let us remember that there were soldiers and shots and explosions and damaged cars and underwater shots as well.

I saw a similar post yesterday on tumblr and I agree, that all is very obvious. So I didn't get the fuss over yesterdays filming that happened on tumblr (although there is fuss all the time about everything) In the past we have never seen important stuff during the filming. Why should we now. I was seeing and reading all the setlock stuff for series 3 and was I spoilt when I was watching it, totally not.

I also read posts there that some people fear Sherlock will be a mushy family show. Like Mofftiss would ever do  that.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I highly doubt the show will be mushy, only mushy for the sake of heartbreak...

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

@Vhanja, concerning your question: a clear NO!

------------------------------------------------------------

Eventually everyone will support Johnlock.

"If you're not reading the subtext then hell mend you"  -  Steven Moffat
"Love conquers all" Benedict Cumberbatch on Sherlock's and John's relationship
"This is a show about a detective, his best friend, his wife, their baby and their dog" - Nobody. Ever.

Yeah, I dearly love this fandom as I've stated several times. But one of the downsides is that sometimes fans can create a whole lot of fuss and drama over the smallest thing. I remember Tumblr going crazy when Sophie was seen on the TAB-set. Some fans started speculating that she would now get a big part in the show and horrible that was, and now Sherlock wa ssurely going to the dogs.

I will not be able to forget one "fan" who said that "If Sophie gets only the smallest part in the special, I hope Benedict Cumberbatch won't get to do anything but bad commercials for the rest of his life".

And then all the fuss and hyperbole was put to shame when Sophie left the set an hour later - she had only visited her husband for lunch...

So, yeah, we know nothing about the context for any of the stuff we see. We only see glimpses and we don't know what part it will play, why it's there or anything about it. Speculating is fun, but there is no need to leap to huge conclusions about how this surely confirms that Sherlock and John are now only errand boys to the hero Mary and what not.

@Phantom: I agree. The mushy parts are there more or less only as a setup for the heartbreak.

Sherlock on a Vauxhall bridge:

-----------------------------------

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Oh, interesting. Will it be one of those epic shots with him looking out over the view? Or just him walking to or fro something? He seems to be alone.

We haven't had many scenes before of Sherlock wandering London alone, have we?
