Re: Four Letter Abbreviations of Canon Stories

The canonical abbreviations were developed by Jay Finley Christ in An Irregular Guide to Sherlock Holmes of Baker Street, New York: Argus Books (1947) - sixty three years later the system is still in use.

Re: Four Letter Abbreviations of Canon Stories

This could be quite useful. I've noticed that we aren't consistent here with abbreviations for the episodes. Well, maybe I mean I'm not consistent. SIP or just Pink, for example.

Re: Four Letter Abbreviations of Canon Stories

I would love to have a hard copy of this list. Is there a way to print this one, or does anyone know of a link I could go to to get a print copy?

When I saw the title of this thread, I though something completely different. Sorry.

Yes.  There are 2 ways you can do this,  depending upon the browser you are using.   If  it's internet explorer,  just highlight what you want to print,  and right click your mouse and hit print.   Make sure the SELECTION circle is checked.  then  print in the normal manner.

Other browswers  such as chrome  don't have this.   What you do then,  is  highlite what yu wanna print,  open  a word doc folder,  and copy  and paste  it there.  THEN  print it  in the normal  way.   Hope this helps you.

Re: Four Letter Abbreviations of Canon Stories

I guess we should make new abbreviations for BBC Sherlock episodes. I normally abbreviate them like this:

ASIP
TBB
TGG
ASIB
THOB
TRF

But I guess if we were sticking to the four letters, I'd probably go with:

PINK
BANK
GAME
BELG
BASK
FALL

You could keep STUD, SCAN and HOUN but then it might get confusing as to whether you were talking about the series or the canon. At least if you keep them differently you could quite feasibly compare them both in the same sentence. Eg. "In BELG they did .... whereas in SCAN they did ..... "
